SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Manages individuals involved in the Pottawatomie County MentalHealth Court and screens potential clients who could be offered support through MentalHealth Court.
Compensation: between $19.74 and $23.54 per hour (wage is determined by total years of relevant experience)
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (a four day work-week with combination of day, evening and weekend hours)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mentalhealth care, education, criminal justice, or other related fields
Experience in case management, internships with the Department of Human Services or Social Service Agencies preferred.
Minimum 21 years of age
Valid driver's license/ acceptable driving record
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide essential support to clients through trauma-informed case management and advocacy.
Have a clear understanding of what MentalHealth Court was, provide examples of what is expected in the program and how to succeed.
Completes intake/orientation of MentalHealth screenings, social histories, provides service delivery assessments, documents progress; completes discharge process, writing timely, accurate, and professional documentation for internal and legal use.
Collaborates with and engages in Multi-Disciplinary Teams to include (but not limited to) Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department; Pottawattamie County Jail; Pottawattamie County Court Judges; various attorneys; Iowa Department of Corrections; County Probation; Medical offices; Clinicians; Practitioners.
Travel to and meet with clients and supports for accurate assessment and progress updates.
Attend community meetings and legal court proceedings, including providing court testimony when necessary.
Establishes a positive working relationship with and knowledge of therapists, medication providers, justice system personnel, community providers, schools, and other professionals assigned to each case.
Maintains confidentiality of clients and families.
Maintains required records as per contract, compile data spreadsheets.
Develops care management plan with clients that are realistic, achievable, goal oriented and focused on client needs and desires.
Demonstrates ability to effectively assist clients in addressing barriers by utilizing community resources and health related information.
Complete and follow up with various referrals for housing support, government assistance, and any other support the client might need help with.
Coordinates services, resources, information with client, and on behalf of client when needed.
Provides guidance, support and crisis intervention to client when indicated and appropriate.
Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
Always displays a courteous and caring attitude to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the Agency.
Maintains regular, prompt attendance at the office on a consistent and reliable basis.
Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
Creates, maintains, and shares as appropriate a dynamic self-care plan.
Strives to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible to contribute to the agency's ongoing fundraising and friend-raising efforts.

Work Schedule: Full-time and On-Call positions available:

On-Call: Requires working 32 hours (minimum) per month, 16 hours have to be weekend hours (2:45pm Fridays - 7:00am Mondays), and you must work 1 major holiday per year.

3 sets of scrubs will be furnished by LRC to all Full-Time MentalHealth Specialists.

Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Be at least 19 years of age to work with adult client populations; be at least 21 years of age to work with adolescent client populations. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent education.
Preferred Qualifications: One year or more combined experience or education in human services, customer service, or military service.
Other: Must have a valid driver's license. This position requires proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the language effectively. State agencies are responsible to evaluate each of their positions to determine their individual overtime eligibility status as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Incumbents are required to work regularly scheduled shifts with predictable attendance and work overtime up to and including entire shifts. These positions are subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.) Positions classified to this class may be exposed to infectious waste, communicable diseases, and blood and airborne pathogens such as TB, HIV and Hepatitis. Observe and document inmate behavior, serving as a vital link between inmates and clinical staff.
Assist in orienting inmates to treatment programs and may manage a small caseload, facilitating non-clinical classes.
Maintain a secure environment by monitoring inmate activities, operating safety equipment, and responding to emergencies, including physical intervention.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and ensure all actions follow departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field OR two years of experience working with persons referred through the legal system. Must be at least 18 years of age. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.
Preferred Qualifications: One year of corrections experience and/or experience working in the mentalhealth field.
Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Transcripts required at time of appointment. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass a medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides counseling to individuals in group, couple, family, or individual settings, within the framework of the treatment plan and monitors progress.

Handles cases of the highest degree of complexity.
Collaborates with all programs within Heartland Family Service to have a better understanding of what they offer to support evaluation recommendations in Heartland's continuation of care.
*Is prompt and accurate in completing all required reports, statistics and other requirements.
Meets clinical requirements of third-party payers (authorizations, reviews, documentation) and provides information necessary for prompt and accurate billing.
Provides mentalhealth crisis intervention as needed.
*Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
*Strive to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible to contribute to the agency's ongoing fundraising and friend-raising efforts.
Essential functions of this job are to be performed on company physical work site or designated workspace.
