OVERVIEW OF POSITION: Under general administrative direction, work collaboratively with staff and families to ensure delivery of services to all children including those with identified disabilities participating in the Early Head Start/Head Start and Dept. of Education programs. Work collaboratively with staff and parents about issues related to atypical behavior or development and the individual needs of children. Assist in the development and presentation of staff in-service trainings regarding early intervention, and other related topics as directed. Attend IFSP/IEP meetings as directed. Perform other assignments as needed based on associate's expertise, knowledge, ability or needs of the program. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or higher in related field of Psychology, Child Development, or Special Education.|Must have successfully completed an Infant toddler class from an accredited college with a “B” grade or better. EXPERIENCE: Possession of pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR and first aid certificate. Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the assigned Supervisor, the Family Support Counselor/Mental Health Specialist has responsibility for providing support services to individuals and families as identified in the designated program and/or individualized plan. Essential Functions: Provides individual and family support services in accordance with the individualized plans. Able to effectively engage, develop relationships with appropriate boundaries with assigned clients. Effectively manages a flexible community based schedule. Completes all required documentation according to Agency and program standards within required time constraints. Is an active member of assigned treatment teams. Meets Agency service percentage standard reflecting expected time spent with clients, if applicable. Minimum Required Education and Experience: Must possess a high school diploma/GED. No previous experience required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Position/Program Requirements: Must possess a reliable mode of transportation to travel to assigned client homes, schools, offices, etc. If personal vehicle is the mode of transportation, must meet Agency's driving requirements. Must be physically and mentally fit. Must be willing to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) and drug screening test. Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California. Must be flexible to work a varying schedule according to operational needs. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work in an office or outdoor environment including standing, walking, and running, sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds and up to 10 pounds frequently. Must be physically able to perform Pro-Act Restraint Techniques, CPR and First Aid as trained. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle for traveling up to 100 miles driving distance. Our Camp Counselor positions have the potential to serve as competitively paid internships that meet your course credit needs. First and foremost, your primary responsibilities will be as a Camp Counselor. As an Intern, you will be expected to fulfill your regular daily job responsibilities and it will be up to you to complete your internship responsibilities and to ensure that they do not interfere with your work obligations.
