Job Description Purpose: The Youth First School Mental Health Professional works closely with the respective school environment to provide a multi-tiered system of support that aligns with best practices in public health (National Institute on Drug Abuse) utilizing universal, selective, and indicated methods of prevention/early intervention in context of the Mental Health Professional role. The Mental Health Professional will follow a neuroscience and trauma informed method, building resiliency through skills, enhancing relationships with significant adults, and fostering readiness for change among individuals and throughout the school culture. Emphasis is placed on specialized mentoring used to assist students in managing life stressors/challenges through evidence-based programs and practices. Job Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned: ●Plans/coordinates patient discharge and/or transfer. ●Responds to the Emergency Department for evaluation and treatment of patients. ●Obtains histories and performs physical examinations. ●Diagnoses and manages acute and chronic health conditions via evidence based guidelines. ●Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests. ●Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, splinting, casting, biopsies, invasive procedures such a line placement, etc. in accordance with training, scope of practice and collaborative and supervisory agreement requirements. ●Prescribes or recommends pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications in accordance with practicing state's Codes/Regulations, State Controlled Substance Registries , and supervisory agreements. ●Consults appropriate physician(s) for patient care needs. ●Refers patients to appropriate sources of care as indicated. ●Works to exceed national benchmarks for quality care delivery, cost containment and length of stay for various disease states. ●Assists patients to maximize their abilities to cope with health and illness. ●Presents and documents patient data. ●Responsible with hospitalist team to help reduce patient length of stay by performing tasks and evaluations in a timely manner, as well as, advocating for the patient regarding system issues in the hospital preventing them from creating barriers that increase patient length of stay, i.e. timely laboratory results, radiology reports, social issues, etc. ●Assures the efficient utilization of resources while supporting clinical pathway implementation and compliance. ●Assures appropriate and timely referrals to an appropriate facility as indicated by the patient care needs in consultation with the primary care physician. ●Participates in the assurance of robust communication system (including telephone communications as needed) on the admission/status updates, discharge summaries, etc. in acknowledgement of the inpatient hospitalization as a component of the continuum of care provided by the primary care physician. ●Supports the primary care physician/patient relationship. ●Actively establishes primary care relationships for patients who do not have primary care physicians. ●Maintains a collegial relationship with the interprofessional team involved in care of the patient inclusive of the primary care physician. ●Takes responsibility for assuring patient/family satisfaction with care provided. ●Promotes self-care, health promotion, and disease prevention through the provision of information, counseling, and education for individuals, families and groups as indicated. ●Develops and participates in community outreach programs/activities. * Weekday and weekend after hour on call requirements. * No holidays ●Assists with relevant billing documentation and development of efficient billing processes. * Prescriptive authority will include controlled substance prescriptions for medications as is compliant within the practicing state's codes/regulations (Indiana Code IC 25-23-1-19, and Kentucky KRS 218A.060 -130, under the conditions set forth in KRS 314.042). * collaborative physician providers and APNs/PAs will meet to discuss patient care and management and to review current literature regarding practice trends as needed. * Collaborative physician providers will evaluate the prescribing practices of the Advanced Practice /Physician Assistant by random, regular review.

Requirements Conditions and Requirements: A physician medical staff member must maintain a level of staff privileges at a Kentucky hospital approved by the CEO. Failure to maintain standing will result in reconsideration of employment status at RCHA. The facility and category of privileges will be determined by the CEO or his designee. All Physicians and non-physician providers are required to attend clinic and RHCA general staff and/or Committee meetings. An attendance rate of 75% is expected, unless otherwise approved in writing by the Medical Director or CEO. The physician or non-physician provider must participate in all Quality efforts undertaken by the organization. Further, the medical providers are expected to conform to the standards of care approved by the RHCA Board of Directors under the Quality Improvement Program, and other such programs as may be identified as appropriate. Failure to correct, reduce and/or eliminate errors after all steps in a plan of correction have been implemented, along with additional education/training at physician's expense, will be an immediate cause to assess base compensation level and/or employment status. The provider must cooperate with RHCA administration in achieving financial and patient care goals. Being a “Team” player, focusing on mission, working in and assisting in the development of a collaborative approach to the care of patients and providing quality medical care are benchmarks for success. The provider is expected to assist and be involved in projects and programs intended to improve services and the health status of residents in the communities served by RHCA.
