SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Role Overview
Hale Kipa is looking for Youth Counselors to work with youth between the ages of 12 and 17, who are placed in the Hale Ho'opakele, (a type of Emergency Shelter) because they have been identified as having some kind of involvement with sex trafficking. Youth can be referred by various referral sources and the length of stay in the emergency shelter is anywhere from 1 day to 30+ days, while youth await return home or another more permanent placement.
Relief Youth Counselors need to be able to manage crisis situations appropriately and help youth work through issues they are experiencing. They need to provide a stable, safe, structured, and nurturing environment, that encourages youth to participate in a program structure that includes: chores, meals, bedtime, quiet time, study time, meetings, and participation in planned activities and outings. Relief Youth Counselors also need to spend time discussing issues with youth to assist and support them in their emotional processing, encourage adaptive positive coping skill-building, and solidify/set limits. Also in the overnight position, Relief Youth Counselors are required to conduct and document 20-minute bed checks to ensure all youth are safe. Assisting youth with wake-up calls in the morning and helping them start their day off in a positive manner, are part of the responsibilities of this staff.
In addition to working with the youth, Relief Youth Counselors are also responsible for understanding and handling intake processes and procedures accurately, as well as submitting required documentation in a timely manner. Having some computer knowledge and being able to navigate the electronic health record is essential to the role. Working as part of a team and possessing good communication skills, both verbal and written; and representing Hale Kipa in a professional manner when working with collaterals, parents/guardians, and youth are imperative to the Relief Youth Counselor position.
Schedule: Relief Youth Counselors are on call and work is not regular. Work is dependent on shift availability and the availability of the Relief Youth Counselor. Available shifts include:
Front Half: Sunday - 8:45am - 10:30pm; Monday - Tuesday - 2:30pm - 10:30pm; every other Wednesday - 2:30pm - 10:30pm.
Back Half: Thursday - Friday - 2:30pm - 10:30pm; Saturday - 8:45am - 10:30pm; every other Wednesday - 2:30pm - 10:30pm.

Comprehensive Counseling and Support Services (CCSS) provide integrated services to promote the safety, permanency and well-being of children and families on Oahu by addressing the causes that place children at risk of child abuse, neglect or result in child maltreatment. Families are referred to the program by Child Welfare Services (CWS), Voluntary Case Management (VCM) or Family Strengthening Services (FSS). The overall goal of CCSS is to assist families with providing and promoting a safe family home for their children. The program is committed to providing a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive environment that focuses on the individual needs of each family.
The Comprehensive Counseling Support Services (CCSS) Therapist provides service activities such as service assessment, Individual Program Plan (IPP) which includes parental life skills support, child skill building activities, developing/enhancing protective factors, and referrals to and service coordination with other community agencies resources, and supports. Delivers voluntary, culturally appropriate, and strengths-based child abuse and neglect prevention services to families that are low to high-risk. These families are referred by the Department of Human Services (DHS). The Therapist also provides individual, conjoint, and family clinical counseling/therapy to include communication skill building, problem solving skill building, building of coping skills and education on child development. The therapist is the lead service coordinator for each case assigned. This position is under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.
Essential Duties
1. Participates in clinical supervision with the Clinical Supervisor/Therapist and/or Program Supervisor to ensure updated case plan service activities and IPP goals are being met. Participates and attends required and assigned training, supervision and consultation.
2. Completes clear, concise and non-judgmental written and electronic documentation, such as initial assessments, monthly updates, and closing reports, and ensuring that all paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
3. Completes service assessments and develops Individual Program Plans with DHS and the family; conducts screens, and assessments; provides individual, conjoint, or family counseling to include clinical therapy for up to 12 months.
4. Ensures service activities support short and long-term goals and are designed to promote protective factors. Ensures that the delivery of service is done in a trauma-informed approach consistent with the standards and guidelines established by funding agencies and state law utilizing evidenced based, evidenced informed or promising practice principles.
5. Provide crisis intervention and is on-call 24 hours a day/7 day a week to support clients focusing on crisis management, assessment, counseling, role modeling, education and resource and referral provision.
6. Maintains effective working relationships with funders, collaborators, state agencies, and other providers.
7. Ensures coordinated care and services are in alignment with the DHS Family Service Plan and on target for completion.

Role Overview
Hale Kipa is looking for Youth Counselors to work with youth between the ages of 12 and 17, who are placed in our Pu'uhonua Program (Emergency Shelter). Youth can be referred by various referral sources and the length of stay in the emergency shelter is anywhere from 1 day to 30+ days, while youth await return home or another more permanent placement.
Youth Counselors need to be able to manage crisis situations appropriately and help youth work through issues they are experiencing. They need to provide a stable, safe, structured, and nurturing environment, that encourages youth to participate in a program structure that includes: chores, meals, bedtime, quiet time, study time, meetings, and participation in planned activities and outings. Youth Counselors also need to spend time discussing issues with youth to assist and support them in their emotional processing, encourage adaptive positive coping skill-building and solidify/set limits.
In addition to working with the youth, Youth Counselors are also responsible for understanding and handling intake processes and procedures accurately, as well as submitting required documentation in a timely manner. Having some computer knowledge and being able to navigate the electronic health record is essential to the role. Role Overview
Hale Kipa is looking for Relief Youth Counselors to work with youth between the ages of 12 and 17, who are placed in our Pu'uhonua Programs (Emergency Shelter) because they are experiencing some type of crisis. Youth can be referred by various referral sources. Length of stay in Pu'uhonua is anywhere from 1 day to 30+ days, while youth wait for their next, more permanent placement.
Relief Youth Counselors need to be able to manage crisis situations appropriately and help youth work through issues they are experiencing. They need to provide a stable, safe, structured, and nurturing environment, that encourages youth to participate in a program structure that includes: chores, meals, bedtime, quiet time, study time, meetings, and participation in planned activities and outings. Relief Youth Counselors also need to spend time discussing issues with youth to assist and support them in their emotional processing, encourage adaptive positive coping skill-building, and solidify/set limits. Also in the overnight position, Relief Youth Counselors are required to conduct and document 20-minute bed checks to ensure all youth are safe. Assisting youth with wake-up calls in the morning and helping them start their day off in a positive manner, are part of the responsibilities of this staff.
In addition to working with the youth, Relief Youth Counselors are also responsible for understanding and handling intake processes and procedures accurately, as well as submitting required documentation in a timely manner. Having some computer knowledge and being able to navigate the electronic health record is essential to the role. Working as part of a team and possessing good communication skills, both verbal and written; and representing Hale Kipa in a professional manner when working with collaterals, parents/guardians, and youth are imperative to the Relief Youth Counselor position.
Schedule: Relief Youth Counselors are on call and work is not regular. Work is dependent on shift availability and the availability of the Relief Youth Counselor. Available shifts include:
