CMHA is looking to hire a Clinician I or Behavioral HealthCounselor for our Jail Diversion Forensic Counseling Program. This position will be located at 233 Main St. New Britain, CT 06051. Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM.
Compensation Range: Behavioral HealthCounselor: The salary range for this position starts at $24.00 per hour. Clinician I: The annual salary range for this position starts at $57,000. The Clinician I is also eligible for a $5,000 sign-on incentive which will be paid $2,500 after 6 months and $2,500 after 1 year of employment.
Compensation for each position is determined not only by years of relevant experience, education, and skills, but also by maintaining internal pay equity. CMHA also takes into consideration our benefits and paid time off package to provide a well-rounded and competitive approach to the applicant's overall compensation.
Position Summary: Serves as an active part of a multidisciplinary team that provides assessment and therapeutic services to adults, children and/or adolescents who present with a wide range of significant behavioral health needs. Treatment is aimed at assisting individuals and/or families by helping them develop the skills necessary to improve their quality of life. Essential Responsibilities:
Maintains all trainings and certifications as required by program model.
Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies.
Performs comprehensive intake assessment that results in diagnosis and recommendations for psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for adults and/or children.
Completes assessment tools, integrates pertinent information to establish diagnosis, and analyzes data to create clinical formulation within designated timeframe.
Performs individual, family and/or group treatment utilizing evidence-based practices to facilitate positive strength‐based change.
Develops achievable goals with client, with measurable and behavioral objectives within designated timeframes. Monitors treatment progress and provide updates within identified timeframes and as clinically indicated.
Collaborates with other providers by providing all pertinent clinical information in a timely manner.
Responds to crisis situations and triages appropriately, communicating clearly with internal and external providers/stakeholders to meet presenting client needs.
Provides referrals and linkage to community and internal resources as necessary to address client need.
Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies.
Secures reimbursement for services rendered by submitting accurate documentation in a timely manner.
Adheres to all state, federal, Joint Commission and other oversight regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Behavioral HealthCounselor:
Bachelor's degree in behavioral health discipline
Must be in actively in a masters level program focusing on degree in behavioral health discipline
Will be certified in MANDT, first aid, and CPR
Valid Connecticut Driver's License
Clinician I:
Must have associates license (MFTA, PCA, LMSW).
Must be eligible for LCSW, LMFT, LPC

Responsibilities:
The Licensed Program Case Manager provides supportive case management services to individuals with mental illness in the apartment treatment program. Monitors maintenance of sites and provides on-site visits to scattered housing locations.
Plan and evaluate service plans and monitor objectives. Write progress notes on service plan weekly.
Document services provided with appropriate notes.
Perform site visits daily.
Monitor maintenance of sites.
Oversee medication maintenance and assist residents in the development of self-medication skills as needed.
Provide information regarding community resources and orient residents to the area.
Assist in securing vocational assessment services, job training and education programs.
Provide advocacy services to gain appropriate entitlements and services.
Intervene in situations requiring immediate attention to ensure safety of residents.
Provide mediation, counseling, behavioral intervention, and crisis management services.
Train and assist residents in the activities of daily living including household maintenance.
Provide transportation for residents as needed.
Consult and coordinate with clients' family and providers as needed for coordinated service delivery.
May occasionally attend team meetings and discharge meetings.
Ensure household cleanliness is maintained to agency standards and assist as needed. Conduct fire drills at sites as needed.
Provide coverage for additional community residence and apartment treatment program sites when a position is vacant or as needed.
Notify program supervisor/manager of any medical or psychiatric emergency.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or in counseling or psychology or related mentalhealth field from an accredited program.
CT Licensure in Behavioral Health Discipline (i.e. LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or LPC)
Experience and Training:

Standard Job Duties:
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and mentalhealth intake assessments for children, adolescents, adults, and/or families.
Complete risk assessments, including suicide and safety evaluations, and implement appropriate interventions as needed.
Determine medical necessity and appropriate level of care based on clinical presentation and regulatory requirements.
Provide brief clinical interventions, crisis stabilization, and psychoeducation during the intake process as appropriate.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary behavioral health and primary care teams to coordinate care and ensure smooth transitions to ongoing services.
Develop initial treatment recommendations and facilitate referrals to internal and external providers, community resources, and support services.
Accurately document assessments, diagnoses, and recommendations in the electronic health record in compliance with agency, payer, and regulatory standards.
May carry a caseload and provide direct patient care responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, utilization management criteria, and authorization processes related to intake services.
