Job Summary: The Mental Health Counselor provides direct mental health services to students and their families using evidence-based practices and programs that have been deemed culturally and linguistically inclusive regarding race, ethnicity, culture, language, disability, and homelessness. Qualifications: Must have a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, completed all state requirements, and have experience providing students with interventions. Duties & Responsibilities: Consults with parents, classroom staff, guidance counselors, mental health professionals, and/or other relevant parties and utilizes academic/behavioral data, observations, and crisis assessments (as applicable) to determine the appropriate supports and interventions to meet the unique needs of students and families. Provides in-school individual and group therapy services to students. Offers family therapy sessions via telehealth. Provides supervision to mental health counseling graduate students placed within McCreary County School District's high-need schools. Assists the AUGMENT Project Director and MHSP Coordinator in hosting annual graduate student placement orientations and offering licensure test preparation. Works with other mental health service providers to train instructional staff on the use of the Strengths and Abilities Questionnaire and BASC-2 Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BESS) screeners. Attends professional learning opportunities provided through AUGMENT , including training on Mental Health First Aid, Signs of Suicide, Motivational Interviewing, and Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy. Stays abreast of current developments in the school-based mental health counseling field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, and by maintaining professional relationships. Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.     Must hold any state independent license such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT This position has the primary responsibility of providing the full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of all ages of military service members and their families at military installations and off military installations. These services may include non-medical counseling, training/ health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel, schools, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth. CYB School counselors will be assigned to Department of Defense (DoDEA) schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for a school position. CYB School counselors will also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation and the schools. Provides non-medical, short-term, solution focused, counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned primary and secondary locations. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated. Wellspring's Crisis Stabilization Program: The goal of Wellspring's Crisis Stabilization Program is to assist adults who are experiencing an acute psychiatric episode. Clients receive intensive treatment, close monitoring with high levels of staff support, and medications prescribed by a psychiatrist, if necessary, in a homelike setting. Both are licensed, accredited crisis stabilization offering the only services of their kind in the Louisville Metro region. Wellspring Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) Mental Health Clinician: Wellspring is seeking a full time experienced and driven clinician who will work collaboratively with the Clinical Supervisor and interdisciplinary team to ensure quality, client centered care for our clients. CSU Mental Health Clinician Duties & Responsibilities: Practices client advocacy and interventions in accordance with the Wellspring Code of Ethics and the clinician's profession specific code of ethics. In collaboration with Clinical Supervisor, treatment team, and clients, develops client centered treatment plans to assist client's in achieving mental health goals. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Assists Clinical Supervisor and collaborates with internal Wellspring programs and external referring agencies in processing, interviewing, and screening referrals. Provides individual and group therapy, ongoing support, and crisis intervention services to clients. Administers client assessment tools (BPRS, Client Experiences Questionnaire (CEQ) or other quality of life tools). Conducts clinical intake assessments and complete discharges from the program including conducting Brief Psychiatric Rating Scales and Mental Status Exams. Facilitates individual and group therapy and documents notes in the electronic health record. Monitors and documents adherence to medication regimen. Provides information on medication to clients as appropriate. Ensures proper handling of medication according to SSAM procedures. Provides case management services when necessary to ensure the successful reintegration of the clients into the community. Participates in clinical “on-call” rotation (Friday to Friday, twenty-four hour) for the agency to include weekend assessments for EPS referrals. CSU Mental Health Clinician Qualifications: Master's in Social Work or related degree required. State certification required. Certified Social Worker (CSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) is required. Experience working with SMI population is preferred. Knowledge of community resources, mental status exams and the recovery model of persons with SMI are important skills for the position.
