The counselor will assess, diagnose, and treat children and adolescents who may have mental, social, or emotional disorders. Assessments, diagnoses, and treatments will be part of an interdisciplinary approach with pediatricians at Just 4 Kids Urgent Care, Case Managers, child advocacy groups, and social workers where needed to provide the most complete patient care. Essential Duties include: Excellent communication skills to connect with children and adolescents of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Educates family members on what they can do for their child or how to respond to certain behaviors. Trained in a variety of assessment tactics to connect with children who are suffering from a variety of conditions. Assists children in the success of day-to-day activities and in meeting developmental milestones. Coordinates patient care with necessary disciplines. Develops treatment plans. Assists in coordination of referrals. Meets regularly with patients to ensure that patient needs are continually assessed as well as ongoing treatment plans. Ensures that the needful information is available to medical provider on an ongoing basis and any significant change in patient status or condition is communicated in a timely fashion. Court appearances and deposition testimony may be necessary in cases where children are removed from the home due to abusive or neglectful conditions. Additional Facilitate integrated mental health/primary care model with Medical Director. Facilitate community group therapies. Bachelor's degree in psychology and graduate degree in clinical or child psychology. Maintains standards of care and practice at all times. Adheres to all professional, ethical, and legal regulations as determined by regulatory bodies and the law. Attends team meetings and CE courses Preferred Practical experience working with children in a clinical setting. Supervision of Others Counselors, social workers, interns, students, and other professionals. Travel +/- 10% Work Environment Typically work is performed in an office or clinic setting.
