Mental Health Behavioral Health Intervention Specialist Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Intervention Specialist provides behavior intervention support to students and staff in the development of safety plans. Works with targeted individuals to minimize negative behavioral health instances and replaces them with positive behaviors and actions. Develop targeted strategies to reduce problematic behaviors and encourage productive behaviors through means such as positive reinforcement. The Behavioral Health Intervention Specialist works with the building principal, school counselor, school-based mental health professionals, and school psychologist to coordinate Functional Assessments of Behavior and safety plan(s) that address students' inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the students become more academically successful. Supports classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies. Essential Duties: Will support the district's initiatives with positive behavior supports and programs. Works directly with identified students to adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance. Will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students. Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers and/or the entire staff on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect the development and implementation of interventions. Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which “at-risk” students thrive: behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated and provides ample practice. Use ongoing assessments to maintain a record of student progress. Model good assessment processes that assist students in assessing their own work and behavior. Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors. Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by assisting with professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms. Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive. Engage in ongoing professional development to increase knowledge and skills of positive student behavior support for all students, targeted students. Support conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions. Review behavior referrals and data reports. Participate in building-level MDT team and/or grade-level meetings, as appropriate. Consult with school guidance counselor, principal, and teachers. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures; report all unsafe activities to the supervisor. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Under the supervision of the BH Director, conducts initial BH screenings and psycho-social assessments on all new clients. * Under the supervision of the BH Director, conducts and prepares initial client treatment plans and conducting treatment reviews every (3-6) months that are client specific, contain measurable and obtainable goals and objectives, and contain the client's mental health diagnosis. * Under the supervision of the BH Director, completes client discharge summaries within 30 days of termination of care from COFMC. * Under the supervision of the BH Director, conduct clinical case management services and/or individual therapy and/or family therapy to clients who meet the admission criteria of the BH Department. * Document services provided through the use of an electronic health record (EHR), in the appropriate template, assigned by appointment type, in accordance with the acting practice of the Behavioral Health department in a timely and efficient manner. * Assist the BH Director with the processing of all referrals received; and * Attend all meetings, trainings, and/or other events as deemed mandatory by the Director of Behavioral Health, and/or by COFMC Admin. Job DescriptionDescription: Summary of Responsibilities: The Licensed Mental Health Professional is responsible to provide effective mental health and/or co-occurring prevention and/or treatment for its clients such that the minimum threshold, as outlined in the State of Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services standards or other professional credentialing authority. To provide voluntary, comprehensive services to victims of crime, domestic violence, sexual assault etc. to assist after the individual is a victim of a crime. Requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide trauma informed practice and evidenced based mental health and/or co-occurring treatment for its clients Provide counseling to all ages: elders, adults, adolescents, and child Provide appropriate assessments in order to ascertain client needs, strengths and determine appropriate level of care using appropriate criteria if applicable. Constructive treatment planning and treatment planning revision with the client in order to collaborate on treatment needs. Determine appropriate level of care. Noting of appropriate case documents in a trauma informed lens. Attend all trainings required by department and funding agency. Individual, groups, and/or support groups Adapt therapeutic approach to clientele. Educational and process oriented individual, group, and/or family counseling to educate, treat, and assist clients in treatment and recovery goals. Holistic approach for medication management and/or referrals for medication as applicable. Aftercare planning, referrals, and placement with the utilization of support systems and community resources. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Must have current Master's level licensure in the State of Oklahoma or national certification, i.e. NCSP, LPC, LBP, LMFT, LCSW. At lease 1 year experience providing counseling to victims of crime and/or acute trauma. At least 6 months experience with children, adolescents, adults, and elders. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of counseling strategies to all victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other victims of crime. Knowledge of trauma informed therapeutic approaches and case conceptualization for victim types. Understanding of trauma and victimization. Culturally knowledgeable with understanding of traditional holistic healing. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Skilled in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Skilled in talking to others to convey information effectively. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem. Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, lift, kneel, sit in the floor and carry up to 40 pounds. Conditions of Employment: The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma operates a drug-free workplace. Must submit to and pass applicable drug test. Must pass background investigations for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
