Position Summary
The goal of this position is to advance school-based mentalhealth awareness, quality prevention, intervention, evaluation and support. Build connections by collaborating with and providing technical assistance and training activities to school teams, families, teachers and staff.
Essential Duties
Coordinate with school teams to promote access to mentalhealth care. Create and maintain such coordination through the standardization of a comprehensive mentalhealth delivery of services by:
* Enhancing the school climate and broadly by promoting mentalhealth wellness, early identification of needs.
* Creating space for family involvement and engagement Assisting in the identification and delivery of a range of evidence based prevention to intense interventions
* Developing program evaluation and data collection for efficacy and effectiveness of services
* Communicate extensively and provide consultation, mentalhealth education and prevention information to staff, students, families and school community.
* Participate in school team meetings to develop relationships and awareness around trauma, emotional, social and behavioral needs.

* Assist in the coordination of a school-wide system of intervention, including implementation of a comprehensive mentalhealth plan.
* Provide consultation and participate on MTSS team
* Provide coordination and oversight for mentalhealth services at assigned school.
* Assist in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
* Serve on the District-Level Behavioral Health Resource Team, School-Level Threat Management Team and/or other designed teams as assigned
* Collaborate and assist in the coordination and development and provide technical assistance as needed on the implementation of a universal behavioral screener
Training and Professional Development
* Assess (in conjunction with the Administrative, school teams, co-located mentalhealth) the training needs of school teachers/staff
* Design, coordinate and deliver professional development related to needs noted among school staff on emotional and interfering behavioral concerns in adolescents (i.e. trauma, onset of mental illness)
* Coordinate and deliver training related to mentalhealth information to Families/Caregiver/ Coaches/other designated school staff.
* Emphasis is on training, ongoing coaching and support for the implementation of the most effective evidence based interventions for disorders/needs.
Education/Experience Requirements
* Master's degree (MA, MSW)
* Clinical license. e.g. LCMAC, LCSW or PsyD in clinical work or licensed as a school psychologist, school counselor
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in related areas of public health or mentalhealth.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively work with students, parents, peers and other school leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds.

These positions are in support of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base either working on base with military members and their families or in local schools with high populations of military children attending. Provides the full breadth of MFLC consultation and counseling services to the command structure and military service members and their families at military installations. Enters counselor activity data daily through smart phone, or web application, to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation, while maintaining client/service member confidentiality.
Consistently visible within the brigade/regiment which allows MFLC services to be accessible. Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources and provides appropriate linkages for service members and their families. Partners with POC to provide MFLC services in a manner that addresses the needs of the installation. Develops an effective and professional working relationship with the installation POC.
Provides MFLC response to critical incidents, surge and on demand events, and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. Counselor will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed or at the request of the Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Manages duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Communicates with Regional Supervisors and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations to which the counselor is assigned.
Participates in regular in-services/training, Quality Improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.
Participates in initiatives, studies, and pilot programs as directed by the customer and/or Magellan. This includes participation in pilot program certification and training processes, completion of activity documentation, integration of pilot activities in non-medical counseling work, and the utilization of applicable technology to complete required activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR LMHC/LCSW:
Perform initial and ongoing mentalhealth evaluations
Develop a treatment plan for each patient that is client-centered, including caregiver education and support
Adequately document treatment interventions, plan of care, assessments, evaluations, patient progression, and discharge of skilled services according to approved medical and company documentation procedures
Provide direct, evidence-based psychotherapy services and interventions to patients and families.
Participate in effective interdisciplinary communication to maximize client outcomes through a team approach
Practice adequate safety awareness and clinical judgment to keep patients and therapists safe during treatments
Provide assistance with the development of linkages with providers and community services that will enable patients and families to achieve optimal outcomes.
Communicate compassionately, effectively, and productively with clients, caseworkers, and families for appropriate scheduling of evaluations, treatments, and ongoing care
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in social work, psychology, mentalhealth counseling, or a related field. All State of North Carolina requirements met for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed MentalHealthCounselor (LMHC), will consider a strong LCSW-A candidate who has secured a clinical supervisor.

The counselor will support students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges by helping them develop coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall mental well-being.
This role works collaboratively with families, teachers, administrators, and community partners to create a safe, supportive school environment and ensure students have access to appropriate mentalhealth resources. The counselor will have autonomy in scheduling and will work within the Student Services suite, reporting directly to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide individual and group counseling to high school students.

Minimum Requirements

+ Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements
+ CPR certification (if required by contract)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (if required)
+ At least 18 years of age
+ Preferred: Experience in school settings or working with adolescents and families
