Job Description GENERAL PURPOSE Under the administrative supervision of the Program Director or designee, this at-will direct service position is responsible for providing psychosocial, rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented services for Turning Point members. This position also involves advocating for members in all areas of treatment and helping them apply for and receive services. Additional support in the areas of medication management, resource connection (e.g., housing resources, AOD, PCP, OP, etc.), counseling, and advocacy will be provided as needed. Involves providing after-hours, “on-call” coverage on a rotational basis based on program needs. Meets regularly with clients at Turning Point sites or in the field, at job sites, homes, board and care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and other appropriate sites. Consults with or meets regularly with the client's family, care provider, or other significant persons with the client's consent. Coaches clients in developing age-appropriate social skills, money management, personal hygiene, and job readiness. Assists in establishing the client's eligibility for Medi-Cal or other benefits and advocates for continuation of benefits when appropriate. Develops financial management plans for clients who receive Representative Payee Services and authorizes appropriate expenditures. Interacts productively within the team to provide holistic case management services to an identified group of clients. Provides “on-the-spot” counseling that is both helpful to the clients and consistent with the philosophy of the program. Drives on program business using personal vehicle for medication outreach, home visits, transporting clients to appointments/activities, community/county meetings/trainings, and MH court. Attends to the safety, health, and well-being of clients. Completes paperwork as assigned promptly. QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is through graduation from a four (4) year university or college with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field, and two 2 years of varied experience in Mental Health Services. The Mental Health Associate/Intern will provide on-site mental health services to formerly homeless children and their families living in permanent supportive housing in Pleasant Hill. The position can be part or full-time depending on your needs. Individual supervision, group supervision and training are all provided. Associates provide services in an on-site play therapy room, in family homes and in the community. Some evening and occasional weekend hours will be required. Applicants of diverse backgrounds who have experience working with low-income families with multiple challenges are encouraged to apply. Applicants with competency working with culturally diverse populations are strongly desired. WHAT YOU'LL DO Support formerly homeless children to reach their full potential (75%) : Provide milieu-based mental health services to individual children living in permanent supportive housing who are experiencing emotional challenges. Many of these children may be receiving EPSDT (Early and Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment) services. Provide on-site individual and group mental health therapeutic services to children. Assist in delivering on-site parenting support groups to families. Collaborate with case managers and the youth enrichment coordinator to provide support for individual children and their families, using a team approach. Assist with staff supervision of volunteer programs and community activities delivered to families served by CCIH. These may include evening and occasional weekend commitments. Work with other staff members to provide community resources for families and individuals, such as social and health related activities, life-skills and employment support, and youth enrichment. Stay on top of the paperwork and administrative details to keep the program running (15%) : Complete accurate and timely EPSDT chart notes for all services provided to children who are assigned under this contract. Meet individual EPSDT contract goals for hourly billing, including averaging a minimum of 10 - 12 hours per week (depending on work schedule) of direct service to clients who are assigned under this contract. Assist the services team with appropriate clinical documentation, including progress notes, service delivery documentation, reports, and forms. Behavioral Health Specialist Trainee Job Description What we offer: Large suburban public district with approximately 29,000 students ranging from 3 to 21 years of age and a wide range of races/ethnicities, languages and socio-economic statuses. As its own SELPA, our district completes its own Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) evaluations and offers a range of counseling and social-emotional/behavioral supports (e.g., school-based Outpatient Medi-Cal therapy services, DIS counseling, ERMHS counseling, Social Emotional Educational Collaborative/Counseling Enriched Program classrooms, and separate schools with in-classroom supports provided). Job Duties First year trainee students: Typically work 2 to 3 days a week with 1 to 2 hours of weekly direct supervision Complete supervised tasks related to individual counseling, case management, group counseling. Second year trainee students: Typically work 3-4 days a week with 1 to 3 hours of weekly direct supervision (Per Board of Behavioral Sciences - 2 units of supervision to collect pre-masters MFT hours). Complete tasks related to individual/group counseling with increasing independence in managing caseload over the school year including increasing capacity for billing on eligible students with open Medi-Cal cases.
