Job Overview
The lead counselor helps to create curriculum, develops and directs an original musical with campers. Assists DCF with determining a family's readiness for reunification through (Reunification Readiness Assessment) by using the “Visit Coaching Model.”
Develops treatment goals and objectives with caregivers, following the specific program model.
Provides interventions (individual, family) that promote the amelioration of problematic symptoms and behaviors, from both a clinical and non-clinical lens.
Evaluates client risk on an ongoing basis and formulates and implements appropriate safety plan for inside and outside sessions.
Collaborates regularly with internal CMHA programs and external agencies such as schools, PCPs, pediatricians, DCF, probation, court, and other social services.
Maintains accurate documentation and submits within program and funder timeframes.
Maintains appropriate caseload as determined by CMHA and funder.
Performs other related duties as assigned, which may include urine toxicology screens, Reunification Services, Therapeutic Family Time, etc.
Requirements:
Master's degree in behavioral health (psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy).
LMSW, LPC-A, MFTA required and must be eligible for LCSW, LPC and LMFT.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a public service license.
Preferred Experience:

The hourly base rate starts at $20.00 an hour.
There is a $2 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift.
Per diems earn a flat rate of $25 per hour.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY:
Develops and maintains positive relationships with the clients, staff, volunteers and visitors.
Maintains resident safety and confidentiality. Utilize the wand to check all bags as residents enter the facility; administering breathalyzer and random drug tests to all clients; and forward incoming calls for residents.
Prepares and submits detailed shift and incident reports of all activities, incidents and emergencies that occur during shift.
Maintains safety and security of the building, company vehicles, and all Veterans Inc. property on site.
First responder for client-related emergencies, RC are trained in CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration.
Other special projects and duties as assigned.

Position Purpose
The Domestic Violence Services Counselor provides emotional support, individual counseling, safety planning, court advocacy, medical advocacy, and support groups to survivors of domestic violence. Provide Domestic Violence education classes to survivors. The position also supports community outreach and education efforts. The Domestic Violence Counselor is a key member of an on-call rotation, providing on-site medical advocacy at five area hospitals, including Baystate Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center, Holyoke Medical Center, Noble Hospital, and Wing Hospital.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide in person or virtual individual counseling to survivors of domestic violence in English and/or Spanish for an average of 12-15 sessions, depending on the necessity, with a focus on safety planning and options to satisfy survivor-identified immediate needs.
Be available and provide individual counseling services of domestic violence after agency hours; be flexible to work after 5pm at least twice a week to accommodate client schedules.
Be on on-call rotation and participate in an on-call coverage rotation to respond to emergency calls for medical advocacy within two hour of request for services.
Provide overnight, weekend, and other on-call coverage on a rotational basis.
Provide support for outreach activities, as needed; be flexible to participate in events occurring after 5pm.
Provide walk-in client coverage during specified office hours.
Provide court accompaniment to participants as necessary.
Provide police accompaniment to participants as necessary.
Conduct community groups for survivors of domestic violence and survivors of domestic violence with co-occurring/compounding trauma- which includes but is not limited to a drop-in support group, facilitation of the Women Correctional Center's transition classes specific to topics regarding domestic violence, sexual assault, and self-care, and a DCF-mandated group.
Assist survivors with application for the Address Confidentiality Program, as requested or needed.
Initiate contact and network with outside providers and maintain a working relationship.
Make appropriate internal and external referrals and follow-up with clients.
Complete accurate and timely documentation of services including intakes, assessments, service plans, group notes, and safety plans using the agency's AWARDS system while adhering to confidentiality standards within 2 days (48 hours) of participant contact.
Maintain and continually update client records and program files.
Complete weekly, monthly, or quarterly data collection requirements.
Experience in trauma informed skills; keep training updated.
Attend supervision and staff meetings as required.
Perform other duties as needed or requested.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or in counseling or psychology or related mentalhealth field from an accredited program.
CT Licensure in Behavioral Health Discipline (i.e. LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or LPC)
Experience and Training:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in behavioral health, mentalhealth, or social services preferred.
Experience conducting clinical assessments and working with diverse populations.
Experience in outpatient behavioral health, community mentalhealth, or integrated care settings.

Standard Job Duties:
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and mentalhealth intake assessments for children, adolescents, adults, and/or families.
Complete risk assessments, including suicide and safety evaluations, and implement appropriate interventions as needed.
Determine medical necessity and appropriate level of care based on clinical presentation and regulatory requirements.
Provide brief clinical interventions, crisis stabilization, and psychoeducation during the intake process as appropriate.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary behavioral health and primary care teams to coordinate care and ensure smooth transitions to ongoing services.
Develop initial treatment recommendations and facilitate referrals to internal and external providers, community resources, and support services.
Accurately document assessments, diagnoses, and recommendations in the electronic health record in compliance with agency, payer, and regulatory standards.
May carry a caseload and provide direct patient care responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, utilization management criteria, and authorization processes related to intake services.
Participate in case consultations, team meetings, supervision, and required trainings.
Uphold ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and organizational policies at all times.
