Your Job as a Substance Use Counselor:
The Substance Use Counselor is instrumental in our patient's treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Substance Use Counselors provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions.
Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery.
Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
Initial assessments as well as follow up assessments.
Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed.
Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed.
Compensation for roles at Riverside CTC varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Riverside CTC provides a reasonable hourly range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California as set forth below.

Calculated Salary Range for role: $26.27 - $31.82 per hour.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
HS graduate or equivalent required;
Prefer Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services field;
Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.
* Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
* Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery.
* Knowledge of evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention techniques.
* Documentation experience, including maintaining clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress updates in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
* Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
* Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
AOD Registration is required.
AOD Certification is preferred.
Registration/Certification must be obtained from a California-approved Counselor Certification Organization (CAADE, CADTP or CCAPP).

Now Hiring: EMHS MentalHealth Services Support Specialist/TSW-III We are currently looking for a qualified, full-time, Enhanced MentalHealth Services Support Specialist/TSW-III to join our residential team. The Enhanced MentalHealth Services (EMHS) Support Specialist/Team Support Worker-III will be responsible for providing a large variety of services ranging from behavior management, crisis intervention, self-help skill building, and other services as needed. Other duties include but are not limited to:
Assist in the delivery of intensive, individualized, strength-based, and needs-driven intervention activities that support the engagement and participation of the youth and his/her significant support persons, and help the child or youth develop skills and achieve the goals and objectives of their plan.
Assist with interventions which are skill-based and for the remediation of behaviors and reduction of symptoms.
Some examples include implementation of a positive behavioral plan, modeling interventions for the youth's family/care givers.
Assists licensed/waivered professional staff in assessments and treatment planning; may plan and implement specific aspects under supervision.
Provide 1:1 behavior intervention for clients based on client's treatment plan.
Regularly communicate/consult with Youths' therapist, Clients' treatment team, regarding client's behavior, progress, and treatment goals.
Participate in child/family team meetings. Maintain children in supervision at all times, focusing on behavior, safety, and general well-being.
Promote growth and development in the children and assist them in reaching goals in accordance with their treatment plan.

Drive a vehicle when necessary.
Additionally, when scheduled to serve as TSW-III (as part of supervision ratio), TSW-III shall provide/assist with EMHS Support Services only in the absence of scheduled EMHSS staff, and only to youth who are in need of immediate 1:1 behavior intervention, based on youth's treatment plan and ability, and only as long as the dorm remains in ratio. This determination will be made by the TSW-III in cooperation with the Dorm Supervisor on duty.
Skills/Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in the Social/Behavioral Sciences required. One to two years of experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability and leadership through a minimum of two years related experience in the field of child or family welfare services.
Must be proficient in the use of computers, including Email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Should have a special interest in working with youth and must fulfill the general requirements as established in the California Administrative Code, Title 22.
Writing and verbal skills and the ability to compose quality reports and other necessary correspondence are essential.
Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English.
Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a physical examination; drug clearance; criminal background check and Child Abuse Index check.

The counselor also provides primary crisis coverage in the event of a campus crisis or emergency, and responds as requested by the Director (or designee) overseeing the crisis/emergency situation. While most of the after-hours crisis intervention involves phone consultation only, there may be times when the situation rises to the level where on-site intervention after-hours is necessary. The after-hours on-call rotation counselor duties include, but are not limited to: consultation over the phone with the student and/or impacted individuals, coming to campus after-hours if necessary and timely responding as appropriate to de-escalate the crisis situation, based on the clinician's best clinical judgment, professional standards, and ethics.
In the event where the counselor provides services outside of regular business hours, the counselor and the CAPS Director (or designee) may consider the time taken outside of the normal work schedule and the counselor's proposed adjustment to the work week schedule to an average of 40 hours of work for the impacted work week. The counselor's proposed adjustment of schedule will be subject to the operational needs of the department and approval by the CAPS Director (or designee).
Indirect Clinical Services
Maintains records/case notes pertaining to client caseload and other service delivery. Applies legal and ethical standards of the profession in documentation and record keeping. Attends departmental meetings as scheduled, needed and/or as requested by the CAPS Director (or designee). Develop outreach and prevention programs/activities and psychoeducational programs to various constituencies on campus. Participates in professional development activities/training to enhance job performance. Participates in other activities and committees, as needed, to carry out services within the department as determined and assigned by the CAPS Director (or designee), including taking on additional caseload, generating reports/documents, conducting research or special projects, committee work (i.e. search committees, peer reviews, other campus committees, etc), and/or participating in campus events (including some evenings and weekend hours). Minimum Requirements:
* Education in:
* Possession of a Doctoral or Master's degree in behavioral sciences, clinical or counseling psychology; a valid license to practice psychotherapy in the State of California, or eligible to sit for licensure within 6 months of hire. * Experience in:
* Working in a university and/or college counseling center or experience working with the transitional age youth (TAY) population.

Education: Master's degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Licensure/Certification: Valid and current license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) issued by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Current CPR/BLS certification (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program). As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into. Valid California driver's license, and auto insurance.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience providing behavioral health services in a clinical or community setting. Demonstrated experience working with children, adults, and families, including experience in individual and group therapy. Previous positions should include responsibilities related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Experience in crisis intervention and management is highly desirable. Relevant experience from previous positions which demonstrate a strong foundation in behavioral health services and includes specialized training or certification will be considered. Preferred experience: Certification in specialized therapeutic techniques (e.g., CBT, DBT, play therapy, CADC, EMDR) and experience with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation systems.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills: The ability to use a computer on a routine basis and complete required documentation. Use of word processor, spread sheets and internet. Ability to transition to Electronic Health Records.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Proficiency in individual and group therapy techniques. Ability to develop and implement effective treatment plans. Excellent crisis intervention and management abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Fluency in English and Spanish preferred. Ability to maintain a professional attitude in difficult situations and communicate effectively. Understands needs of clinic and works well in a team environment.
Essential Mental Abilities: In-depth knowledge of mentalhealth conditions, treatment modalities, and evidence-based practices. Understanding of child and family dynamics, as well as developmental and cultural considerations. Familiarity with community resources and support services. Must have critical thinking for comprehensive treatment planning, empathy for building therapeutic rapport, cultural competence for engaging diverse populations, emotional intelligence for effective communication, adaptability for navigating complex environments, and strong communication skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Now Hiring: EMHS MentalHealth Services Support Specialist/TSW-III
We are currently looking for a qualified, full-time, Enhanced MentalHealth Services Support Specialist/TSW-III to join our residential team. The Enhanced MentalHealth Services (EMHS) Support Specialist/Team Support Worker-III will be responsible for providing a large variety of services ranging from behavior management, crisis intervention, self-help skill building, and other services as needed. Other duties include but are not limited to:
Assist in the delivery of intensive, individualized, strength-based, and needs-driven intervention activities that support the engagement and participation of the youth and his/her significant support persons, and help the child or youth develop skills and achieve the goals and objectives of their plan.
Assist with interventions which are skill-based and for the remediation of behaviors and reduction of symptoms.
Some examples include implementation of a positive behavioral plan, modeling interventions for the youth's family/care givers.
Assists licensed/waivered professional staff in assessments and treatment planning; may plan and implement specific aspects under supervision.
Provide 1:1 behavior intervention for clients based on client's treatment plan.
Regularly communicate/consult with Youths' therapist, Clients' treatment team, regarding client's behavior, progress, and treatment goals.
Participate in child/family team meetings. Maintain children in supervision at all times, focusing on behavior, safety, and general well-being.
Promote growth and development in the children and assist them in reaching goals in accordance with their treatment plan.
Initiate incident reports concerning behavioral problems, injuries, or accidents; provide complete and accurate documentation including dorm logs and other reports as assigned.
Drive a vehicle when necessary.
Additionally, when scheduled to serve as TSW-III (as part of supervision ratio), TSW-III shall provide/assist with EMHS Support Services only in the absence of scheduled EMHSS staff, and only to youth who are in need of immediate 1:1 behavior intervention, based on youth's treatment plan and ability, and only as long as the dorm remains in ratio. This determination will be made by the TSW-III in cooperation with the Dorm Supervisor on duty.
Skills/Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in the Social/Behavioral Sciences required. One to two years of experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability and leadership through a minimum of two years related experience in the field of child or family welfare services.
Must be proficient in the use of computers, including Email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Should have a special interest in working with youth and must fulfill the general requirements as established in the California Administrative Code, Title 22.
Writing and verbal skills and the ability to compose quality reports and other necessary correspondence are essential.
Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English.
Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a physical examination; drug clearance; criminal background check and Child Abuse Index check.
Must possess a valid California driver's license with clean DMV history and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by Trinity's insurance carrier.
Pay rate: $19.50 per hour; $20.50 per hour (bilingual Spanish). Quarterly and annual performance bonus available.
