Licensed to practice behavioral health services in the state where services are being delivered (LICSW or LMHC required). ESSENTIAL FUNCTION Acts as point of contact for administrative staff for discussion of treatment unit programs and problem resolution as needed. Coordinates development and revision of policies and procedures for the identification, assessment, and provision of required clinical services for inmates housed in Secure Treatment Units. Supervises the planning, development and implementation of treatment programs contracted to VitalCore. Provides clinical and/or administrative supervision to staff of Behavioral Health Services within Secure Treatment Units. Monitors efforts of Behavioral Health Services in Secure Treatment Units to ensure clinical services are being provided in a timely, professional manner. Provides and assigns clinical on-call duties. Provides direct clinical services including individual and group treatment, crisis intervention, as well as providing shadowing and mentor opportunities to front-line clinical staff. Ensures treatment programs contracted are integrated and appropriately staffed. Provides administrative support to behavioral health staff. Coordinates with the facility's Behavioral Health Quality Improvement Program. Attends training and meetings as required. Maintain proficiency with all software required for the position, and more specifically, clinical documentation in the designated electronic health record system. Other duties as assigned. For the past five years, DCPL has offered peer support to customers experiencing homelessness, mental health, and substance use challenges. Currently, three DC Department of Behavioral Health Certified Peer Support Specialists, led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, provide emotional support and referrals to services to DCPL's unhoused customers and those with co-occurring disorders. The Mental Health Specialist is part of an interdisciplinary team that includes the Health & Human Services Manager, the Health & Human Services Assistant Manager, and three Certified Peer Support Specialists. Responsibilities include providing a wide variety of social work supports, focusing on making connections with customers inside DCPL library branches. Customers seeking services could include adults experiencing homelessness, adults with dual-diagnosis, transition-aged youth from 18-24 years, teens, and families. Opportunities for internships are available year-round and last for a three- to four-month period. To assure that the intern maximizes her or his experience, we require that students work a minimum of 28 hours a week. All APHA internships are unpaid, but credit is available. Applicants who meet the requirements and are interested in being considered for an internship position should upload the following information: - Cover letter; - Resume; - A writing sample; - Unofficial transcript; and - List of two references (from two individuals who know you well enough to discuss your qualifications, e.g., an employer or professor). This is an US-based internship, and candidates must be able to work in the US during the internship. APHA internships are unpaid and located in Washington, D.C.
