Licensed Mental Health Clinician - Athletes & Sports Medicine Position Type: Full-Time, On-site Reports To: Dr. Maddie Barron, Director of Mental Health WHSP Medical, P.C. is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our interdisciplinary team comprised of skilled physicians, dietitians, mental health professionals and other medical personnel. Reporting to the Director of Mental Health, the mental health clinician will contribute the mental health team and is dedicated to supporting the mental and emotional well-being of female athletes across the lifespan - from adolescents to adults - through integrated, outpatient care. The Mental Health Clinician provides individual outpatient psychotherapy and mental performance consultation to athletes navigating a wide variety of challenges including but not limited to identity development, REDS and/or eating disorders, life transitions, depression, anxiety and performance anxiety. The clinician supports athletes seeking to elevate their overall performance and wellness in and out of sport. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the athlete experience, trauma-informed care, evidence-based therapeutic interventions and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team. Key Responsibilities: Provide individual outpatient psychotherapy to female athletes of all ages, with a focus on injury recovery, identity transitions, anxiety, depression, and performance-related stressors. Deliver therapeutic support for athletes experiencing Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDS), eating disorders, or disordered eating in close collaboration with dietitians and medical providers. Participate in regular multidisciplinary case rounds and consultations with team members to ensure comprehensive treatment planning and coordinated care. Utilize an evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to care. Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and regularly assess progress. For many individuals, our programs literally save lives. Acute Treatment Services (ATS) is a 39 bed medically monitored detox unit for alcohol and opioid use disorders located right on campus. Our detox services have served the community for more than 40 years. Our new Dr. Lucy Sewall Center for Acute Treatment Services will increase access to substance use disorder treatment, serving 4,000 men and women annually and create a link to long-term recovery support. Behavioral Health Specialist Supervisor is a key component of the interdisciplinary team that provide support services for patients with Substance Use Disorders. The role of the BHS supervisor is to support behavioral health specialist staff and the program leadership to ensure that the program is operating at its best. BHS supervisors work closely with nursing to provide evidence-based care to our patients with SUD. The BHS supervisor will perform functions efficiently and thoroughly to assure that the patients are safe during the detox process. Schedule varies. Days evenings and weekends will be required. Essential Functions Relates to clients and colleagues in a compassionate, professional, and respectful manner as measured by observed interactions. Assures safety and support to all clients admitted to The Dimock Center. Able to assess, communicate effectively and maintain therapeutic boundaries through setting limits and enforcing structure and rules of the program in a respectful manner. Supports all milieu staff in all aspects of the program including: safety checks, client and room searches, supporting client's admission and discharge processes. Participates in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for new clients in the program. Recognizes the importance of individual and cultural differences that influence patient behavior and applies this understanding to the care of patients. Participates in the patient admission process; provides explanation of Dimock paperwork and completes all necessary intake documentation. Conduct property search of clients' belongings on admission and discharge. Observes and reports to Nurses clients who appear sick, agitated or depressed. 10. Uses negotiating skills to minimize and de-escalate potentially dangerous situations. 11. Supervises and supports behavioral health specialist staff as needed throughout the program 12. Organize and maintain the BHS schedule, working open shifts that are unable to be covered 13. Attends to the overall operation and management of the living environment. 14. Ensures that the living space is safe. 15. Manages inventory, stock, and deliveries 16. Establishes and maintains professional boundaries for clients to ensure client safety. 17. Runs the basic day-to-day functions of the program to ensure that the unit is safe, that the clients receive meals three times a day and assist clients with any special needs. 18. Attends and participates in all staff meetings and attend trainings. 19. Oversees and ensures BHS staff follow all Dimock Policies. 21. Ensures that the program environment is safe and conducive to healing and recovery. 22. Works with program staff to develop and support new programming. 23. Other duties as assigned. Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program. The GLFHC Behavioral Health Team is currently seeking an experienced Mental Health Counselor. Under the supervision of a LICSW, works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, provides consultation to the clinical site team and provides individual and group counseling to GLFHC patients referred by primary care clinicians Scope of Duties: Serves as liaison between patients, family member and health care team. Helps to educate patients and their family about patients' behavioral health treatment. Explains treatment in a clear, concise manner, with sensitivity to patients' level of understanding, culture, age and language. Documents all teaching materials given to the patients, or family members including their response, comprehension and need for further follow-up. Upon referral from the care team, reviews the patient's biopsychosocial history, and completes the assessment and care plan. Maintains accurate and timely records according to policy. Provides short term individual, group and family intervention. Collaborates with community behavioral health providers in the coordination of behavioral health care. Develops and facilitates support groups as determined by patient/client need, interest and team member recommendation. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Is able to identify and categorize each patient's age specific grouping of needs. This may include children, couples, families, and adults. Collaborates with GLFHC clinical staff and administration to develop and maintain referral resources throughout service area. Refers patients to services within GLFHC and to other community agencies. Develops working relationship with leaders and community agencies, representing GLFHC at meetings as indicated. Demonstrates clinical competence and professional commitment by adhering to established standards of practice and utilizing appropriate scientific principles. Develops and maintains systems for patient educational materials and staff. On a regular basis participates in ongoing quality improvement activities related to individual, team, and organizational performance improvement. Travel between sites required. Collaborates with designated behavioral health professionals for patient care and regular case review. Requirements: Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited program.
