What Does A Mental Health Program Manager Do At Uc Health

* Participates and provides support for the clinical team through integration of treatment, treatment team rounds, treatment planning, and Clinical Diagnostic Assessment (CDA) feedback session.
* Functions as a clinical liaison with psychologists/therapists, psychiatrists and other clinical team members while keeping the milieu treatment team informed.
* Assures treatment plans are developed and revised as necessary with changes communicated and accurately integrated into the milieu.
* Ensures that the patient is involved in the treatment planning process .
* Coordinating and developing the integrated summary within the CDA.
* May develop discharge and related clinical reports to assure integration of services and timely distribution of CDA booklets.
* Plans, develops and implements evidence-based programming, including monitoring and reporting of program quality and outcomes for both residential programs.
* Provides education to patients and families around issues related to the adaptation of the patient’s illness and/or life situation.
* Functions as the program liaison to external stakeholders including, but not limited to, patient families/significant others, referrers, and collaborating programs
* Maintains working knowledge of and collaborates with community and agencies nationwide.
* Works to develop and maintain close relationships with key stakeholders including provision of marketing and development activities.
* Maintains responsibility for the overall patient experience including meeting or exceeding internal and external stakeholder expectations.
* Provides clinical direction to the residential staff.
* Master of Social Work or Counseling degree.
* Must be licensed by the appropriate state board of Ohio (Independent license LISW or LPCC is preferred).
* years’ experience working with adolescents and adults in either acute care or residential mental health setting required.
* At least two years of management experience including direct responsibility and oversight of staff and programming.
* Knowledge and experience in Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, family systems therapy and familiarity with managing a therapeutic milieu.
* Demonstrated skills in developing treatment plans and coordinating treatment plan implementation with clinical teams.
* Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate and communicate well both verbally and in written format

For example, a degree in health administration or health information management often includes courses in health services management, accounting and budgeting, human resources administration, strategic planning, law and ethics, health economics, and health information systems.

Work Experience in a Related Occupation

Many employers require prospective medical and health services managers to have some work experience in either an administrative or a clinical role in a hospital or other healthcare facility. For example, nursing home administrators usually have years of experience working as a registered nurse.

Others may begin their careers as medical records and health information technicians, administrative assistants, or financial clerks within a healthcare office.

Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

All states require licensure for nursing home administrators; requirements vary by state. In most states, these administrators must have a bachelor’s degree, complete a state-approved training program, and pass a national licensing exam. Some states also require applicants to pass a state-specific exam; others may require applicants to have previous work experience in a healthcare facility.
