Provide age appropriate coaching and supervision to patients and families while hospitalized on the Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit. The PMHS's work is directed by Nursing Leaders or designee. Incumbents are required to work with complex and acute psychiatric patients and be comfortable in dealing with stressful and quickly changing environments. This includes initiating appropriate interventions that promote a heathy and safe environment for patients, families and staff.

Required Education/Experience: - BA or BS in psychosocial related field or equivalent education and/or experience Required Credentials: - Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration in Washington State within 6 months of employment. - Registration as a Nursing Assistant in Washington State within 6 months of employment. - Basic Life Support (BLS). - Safety Care certification (internal training) required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter. Preferred: - Experience working with children or adolescents in group settings. - American Sign Language Skills.

Compensation based on direct care hours, expected annual range of $42,000 - $47,500 .

As a Mental Health Skills Building Specialist, you will provide a variety of educational, training and/or treatment interventions to adults who meet criteria for a behavioral health treatment or training service. You provide intervention to Intercept clients in areas including but not limited to functional health and safety skills, appropriate personal and interactive behavior, activities of daily living, emotional regulation, developing pro-social behaviors, use of community resources, and medication management assistance.

Selected candidate will have at minimum a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 90 hours of related classroom training plus 12 weeks of experience under direct supervision of a QMHP-Adult; or be a qualified paraprofessional (QPP) of mental health with an associate's degree in human services related field and at least one year providing face to face services to individuals with mental illness. QMHP-C, QMHP-T with specific additional requirements may also qualify for this position.

Being a Soldier isn't just about physical strength. Mental toughness is also a vital component and being able to handle the stresses of the military is crucial. Mental Health Specialists play an important role in ensuring every individual is taken care of through the care and treatment of psychiatric, drug, and alcoholic concerns.

The Mental Health Specialist assists the Guard's health care team with the management and treatment of inpatient and outpatient mental health care. Under the supervision of an Army psychiatrist, social worker, psychiatric nurse, or psychologist, you will collect and record patient data; counsel and treat patients with personal, behavioral, mental health, or substance abuse problems; and provide bedside care in hospitals.

Job training for Mental Health Specialists consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training consists of both classroom and field work.
