POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible as a member of the program team, observes and reports physical and behavioral symptoms under the supervision of the Acute Nurse Manager and/or Registered Nurse. The Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT) is an active participant in the implementation of physical care, therapeutic activities, and the academic program. Assist in planning and implementing treatment programs for patients, implements functional behavioral assessment/behavior intervention plans. The Lead MHT will provide additional support to the leadership team buy providing oversight of the unit supplies, unit activities, and staff unit paperwork.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have least one (1) year of experience working in a residential, acute or inpatient psychiatric setting; an Associate's Degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited University or College and at least two (2) years of experience working in a residential, acute or inpatient psychiatric setting; a high school diploma or a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.) and a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children. Must be Handle with Care, CPR and First Aid certified and hold a valid Virginia Driver's License. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Prefer 1 year of experience leading a team in a unit and/or department.

UCLA mental health technician lead job description

Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time HOME Lead Community Mental Health Trainer to join the DMH-UCLA Public Mental Health Partnership (PMHP). This is a one-year contract position eligible for renewal or conversion to a career position.

Primary duties include:

1. Determining technical assistance and model (clinical) needs among providers working in the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) Homeless Outreach Mobile Engagement (HOME) model

2. Overseeing the planning, delivery, and quality improvement of HOME provider trainings

3. Compiling relevant trainings used in other treatment contexts, evaluate their relevance to Los Angeles County, and consider implementation with partners and training team members

4. Possibly, supervision of Implementation Specialist(s)

5. Consulting and creating corrective action plans with HOME leadership, LACDMH leadership, and PMHP Directors on administrative or clinical challenges presented by HOME providers

6. Developing and implementing quality assurance and improvement activities for all facets of program delivery

7. Planning and supervising the development of a portfolio of intervention materials including: manuals, online and skill-building group curricula for HOME providers such as training videos, identification of relevant peer-reviewed research articles, popular media, and other training materials

Notes: This position is temporarily, primarily remote due to COVID-19. Interactions with team members will mostly take place over email, Slack, and Zoom. Once in-person operations resume, frequent travel within Los Angeles County may be required. For travel to locations other than work office, you'll be reimbursed for mileage.

Qualifications

1. Advanced degree in a mental health related field (e.g., MSW, Ph.D., MA, Psy.D, Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.)

2. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of LACDMH HOME program, homeless services, homeless outreach and/or similar programs (e.g., Full Service Partnership (FSP) program, Assertive Community Treatment, Housing First)

3. Experience communicating complex information to people with varying levels of education and training and different learning styles

4. Experience leading trainings for clinical staff and administrative staff

5. Experience providing clinical support for staff at remote sites who are dealing with challenging cases and caseloads

6. Demonstrated excellence in training curriculum development

7. Experience in developing educational materials for dissemination through an Internet-based platform

8. Skill in keeping accurate records, demonstrated attention to detail

9. Knowledge of the mental health issues impacting families of those with severe mental illness

10. Must have valid driver's license, auto insurance, and access to an automobile for travel to service delivery sites throughout Los Angeles County

11. Familiarity with collaborative workgroup and reporting tools, such as Salesforce, Access, and SharePoint (Preferred)

12. Ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously
