SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Mental Health Professional (MHP) provides services for individuals and their families in the home, school, and community, which are designed to, (1) ensure safety and stability of the child to promote successful functioning in the home, school and community; (2) avert treatment in a residential or inpatient setting; (3) facilitate an earlier return of individuals receiving inpatient or residential care; (4) strengthen family functioning; and (5) assist students in achieving optimal benefits from their education. Examples of Duties
* Oversee and monitor the work performance of behavioral health specialists, school social workers, and other assigned staff regarding the provision of school-based behavioral health services within a complex or district.

* Conduct budget surveillance and utilization procurement review for the SBBH DES to assist in identification of resources needed to implement a system of school-based behavioral health services.

* In consultation with personnel from the DOE district and State level offices, the Department of Health Family Guidance Center, and Children's Community Council (CCC), develop a community-based system of care.

* Review IEP/MP quarterly reports, direct and oversee the recordkeeping systems.
* Sign documents for Medicaid reimbursements.
* May provide direct services.
Minimum Qualifications
Basic Education Requirements: Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, marriage/family therapy, psychology or social work.
Experience Requirements: Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience of the kind and quality described in the statements below and in the amounts shown below or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional post-masters work experience providing counseling and/or therapy to individuals and/or their families which included assisting individuals to address emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health problems. This experience must have involved counseling or guidance in situations where individuals had difficulty in grasping or understanding the nature of their problem(s), choosing between various possible courses of action, adjusting to environmental conditions and/or acquiring or sustaining appropriate individual control or motivation.
Quality of Experience: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. Salary: The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.

Minimum Qualifications
Basic Education Requirements: Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, marriage/family therapy, psychology or social work.

Researches, collects and records data and information relating to the identification and treatment of behavioral and interpersonal problems of patients. Proposes alternatives for interventions and approaches for resolutions.
Collaborates and consults with physicians and other interdisciplinary clinical team members to support assessments and decision-making. Review difficult cases or quality assurance concerns with the clinical team. Acts as a consultant to team members and others in the organization.
Maintains a high level of clinical expertise. Is knowledgeable of current clinical conditions, methods, medications, theoretical frameworks, and interventions. Utilizes best practices in the delivery of behavioral health services in accordance with professional and clinical guidelines. Utilizes evidence-based interventions and modalities with a sound theoretical base.
Maintaining clinical records by documenting clinical assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and all pertinent information in patient medical records according to Regional and departmental guidelines.
Participates in clinical team meetings, departmental planning, and quality management activities.
Assesses patients in Emergency Departments on an after-hours and as-needed basis in service areas where there are privileges to provide mental health assessments and crisis intervention.

Qualifications
Education
Masters Degree in social work from an accredited college or university, passing score on the clinical level national board examination, and supervised clinical social work training, as required by Hawaii Revised Statues (HRS) 467E-7.
License, Certification, Registration

Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association
National Provider Identifier required at hire
Additional Requirements
Knowledge and experience in conducting assessments and diagnostic evaluations using the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, conflict resolution, decision making, group process facilitation, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem-solving, quality management, teamwork, and written communication.
