About River Place Behavioral Health
River Place Behavioral Health is located in LaPlace, Louisiana, just 20 miles west of New Orleans and 40 miles east of Baton Rouge. Our state-of-the-art facility, which opened in 2018, provides acute inpatient care for adults of all genders who have been struggling with bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mentalhealth concerns. We also serve adults who have a primary mentalhealth diagnosis and a co-occurring substance use disorder. At River Place Behavioral Health, a team of experienced and compassionate professionals works closely with each patient to help them achieve stabilization so that they can return home or step down to a lower level of care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed emotional and mental disorders.
Conduct individual, group or family therapy as appropriate for the treatment plan of the patient.
Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan.
Provide initial treatment planning for patient based on assessment and coordinate any additional services needed and revise as necessary.
Maintain documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards, revising as necessary.
Maintain a caseload as assigned.
Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other staff to facilitate services for the patient as appropriate to their treatment plan.
May provide these services in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
Provide case management, discharge planning or after-care planning according to treatment plan.
May assist in educating and training staff on behavior management or therapeutic crisis intervention.
May coordinate various clinical, psychosocial or educational activities with patient and their families.
Evaluate patient's need and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
May assist in the training of new clinical staff and interns.
Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE
The Head Start MentalHealth Coordinator identifies the mentalhealth needs of the Head Start students and provides direct support to students, staff, and families within the Head Start Program.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION ï ½ Master's degree. Valid Louisiana certification in counseling, psychology, social work or related mentalhealth field (or ancillary certificate). Additional criteria as established by the School Board.
EXPERIENCE ï ½ Early childhood experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS ï ½ Must meet the criteria established 1302.91 of the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS).
IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide supports for effective classroom management and positive learning environments; supportive teacher practices; and, strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviors and other social, emotional, mentalhealth concerns. 1302.45(a)(1) HSPPS
Obtain parental consent for mentalhealth consultation services at enrollment. 1302.45(a)(3) HSPPS
Build community partnerships to facilitate access to additional mentalhealth resources and services, as needed. 1302.45(a)(4) HSPPS
Assist the program to implement strategies to identify and support children with mentalhealth and social emotional concerns. 1302.45(b)(1) HSPPS
Assist teachers to improve classroom management and teacher practices through strategies that include using classroom observations and consultations to address teacher and individual child needs and creating physical and cultural environments that promote positive mentalhealth and social emotional functioning. 1302.45(b)(2) HSPPS
Assist other staff to meet children's mentalhealth and social and emotional needs through strategies that include observation and consultation. 1302.45(b)(3) HSPPS
Assist staff to address prevalent child mentalhealth concerns, including internalizing problems such as appearing withdrawn and externalizing problems such as challenging behaviors. 1302.45(b)(4) HSPPS
Assist staff in helping both parents and staff to understand mentalhealth and access mentalhealth interventions, if needed. 1302.45(b)(5) HSPPS
Provide mentalhealth and wellness information to staff regarding health issues that may affect their job performance and provide regularly scheduled opportunities to learn about mentalhealth, wellness, and health education. 1302.93(b) HSPPS
Maintaining ongoing data entry and tracking of mentalhealth support.
Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Schedules and/or attends conferences with parents. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork through the school system.
Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Master's or Doctoral degree in the MentalHealth Counseling Field;
2. Possess and maintain Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in
Louisiana which must be unrestricted, current, complete, and active;
3. Maintain CME/CEU requirements necessary for license renewal in Louisiana
4. Minimum of one year experience required

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Licensed MentalHealth professional participates as an integral professional member of a multi-disciplinary team, implementing and assisting in the supervision of social service interventions to patients. Social Service Provider will conduct therapy groups according to daily program schedule. Group content will be selected according to the current population to promote the most effective therapeutic services. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences invites applicants for a full-time licensed psychologist who will provide direct psychological services including comprehensive psychological assessments, evaluations, treatment, and consultation at the Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic at University Medical Center and Tulane University School of Medicine.
