Position Summary:
Provide, oversee, and/or administer a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services in a high-intensity clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision-making and program administration. Lead and train lower level counselors/social workers, students, and/or interns engaged in related therapeutic/patient care activities, as appropriate to the individual position. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT CARE - Provide counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to clients and families as appropriate to the position

* ADMINISTRATION - Perform various administrative functions such as monitoring expenditures and preparing reports and correspondence; may participate in a variety of research projects to develop service plans; may propose changes to program policies and procedures
* TRAINING - May provide formal teaching, consultation, and in-service training to relevant professionals in immediate proper handling of and/or referral of a variety of matters
* TRAINING - Provide clinical supervision to lower level therapists and/or graduate social work students/interns, as appropriate, and/or consulting services to other patient care professionals
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk

Key Responsibilities:

The Crisis Response Clinician works with first responders to provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services for adults and children experiencing behavioral health crises. The Crisis Response Clinician works with first responders to provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services for adults and children experiencing behavioral health crises. The clinician responds on scene, conducts mental health assessments, engages in de-escalation, makes appropriate referrals, and provides follow-up services. The position collaborates with law enforcement, area hospitals, and partnering agencies to coordinate care and services. PUBLIC SAFETY SUMMARY
Serve as a Crisis Response Clinician for the Bernalillo County Public Safety Division, with a focus on educating, counseling, conducting possible pre-employment screenings, and evaluating the mental health needs of Public Safety personnel. Provide treatment services in alignment with the department's treatment modality. Conduct evaluations, assessments, crisis interventions, safety planning, and referrals for members of Bernalillo County Public Safety. Develop proactive curriculums to address issues such as PTSD, substance abuse, and suicide. Deliver clinically based training to other professionals within the department on a variety of topics or as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responds in person with the assigned law enforcement officer or first responder to mental health calls involving individuals in crisis who may be experiencing psychological and/or associated mental health emergencies or chronic mental illness.
* Prepares and maintains written reports containing clinical material, ensuring the information is secure, confidential, and compliant with state and federal privacy regulations.
* Evaluates a wide range of crisis situations and provides appropriate information and referral services to support resolution.
* Conducts concise, mobile bio-psychosocial evaluations of individuals experiencing acute psychiatric emergencies.
* Assesses safety, determines necessary services, and makes appropriate referrals, taking into account client preferences.
* Provides short-term, solution-focused clinical interventions.
* Develops or participates in the development of safety or crisis management plans to help individuals maintain personal safety and protect others during periods of increased stress.

A. Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Officer or designated team member, the licensed mental/behavioral health professional provides counseling and therapy addressing psychological, interpersonal, developmental, and/or chemical dependency issues, to include active encouragement of healthier patient behaviors. This individual may also support/coach others in motivational interviewing or other techniques intended to increase the collective potential for improving patient health outcomes.

Under First Choice protocols (as they may be established and/or change over time), work with other members of primary care teams to appropriately screen for, assess and address patient behavioral/mental health needs.
Participate in clinical supervision with BH Clinical Supervisor as appropriate for level of licensure and skill set.
Provide access to patient visit opportunities sufficient to evaluate conditions, help manage symptoms/monitor response to medications, and teach coping strategies.
Support the provision of behavioral health treatment through both group and individual counseling sessions, as may be useful or deemed necessary.
Coordinate and communicate with other behavioral and/or physical healthcare providers or entities involved in or who may need to become involved in caring for a given patient.
Act as a team resource to create suicide prevention contracts, safety plans and or other crisis intervention, as necessary.
Appropriately document the provision of clinical care in the electronic patient record or other relevant media.
Actively support appropriate/relevant quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain productivity levels that support access and financial sustainability.

C. Minimum Education and Experience
Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling (or equivalent; other related/advanced education may be considered); New Mexico licensure required, independent licensure preferred. May also be employed upon receipt of Provisional Social Work License.
