For more information, please visit: **************************** Job Summary: The Clinical Therapist/Counselor plans and coordinates medically approved treatment plans and therapeutic interventions for patients seeking in-patient substance use disorder treatment in an Alpas facility. Treatment plans will address co-occurring disorders, leverage Alpas Clinical programming, address family systems and other factors influencing patients' recovery. The Clinical Therapist/Counselor inspires and motivates patients and helps them develop tools to work toward recovery using evidence-based and person-centered practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluate patients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior and assess their readiness for treatment Help patients' develop treatment goals and plans, including support of education about medically assisted treatment options and referral to / collaboration with other resources on the medical and psychiatric teams Review and recommend treatment options with patients and their families; partner with Case Managers around after care plan Help patients develop skills and behaviors necessary to recover from their addiction or modify their behavior Work with patients to identify behaviors or situations that interfere with their recovery Teach families about addiction or behavior disorders and help them develop strategies to cope with those problems Refer patients to other resources and services, such as job placement services and support groups Conduct outreach programs to help people identify the signs of addiction and other destructive behavior, as well as steps to take to avoid such behavior Perform any other job-related duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Must hold valid State of Maryland Licensure or Credential that allows for practice of Drug and Alcohol Counseling (CAC-AD, CSC-AD, LGADC, LCADC, LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, LCSW, LSCW-C) LCPC, LCADC, LCSW-C preferred One to three years of experience in a behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations Knowledge of case management for dual diagnosis patients. The park features wooded trails, open fields, and a year-round campground, with administrative offices and visitor contact areas on site. Summer weather is typically hot, humid, and occasionally stormy; spring and fall are milder. Interns should expect regular outdoor work in variable conditions. The park is close to everyday services. Grocery stores, pharmacies, and other essential shops in Greenbelt and College Park are 5-10 minutes away by car or transit. Several hospitals and urgent care centers are within a reasonable driving radius in the D.C. metro area. Greenbelt is part of a diverse suburban region with strong Hispanic/Latinx communities nearby, particularly in Hyattsville, Langley Park, Adelphi, Riverdale, and parts of College Park. These neighborhoods include families who frequently use Greenbelt Park for picnics, gatherings, and informal recreation, making the park an important and accessible green space for local Hispanic/Latinx residents. Interns at The Nation's Health have the opportunity to report stories and assist with many facets of newsgathering, writing and production. Responsibilities Duties can include writing news stories for the monthly print issue of the newspaper or for its web version, developing story ideas and attending press conferences and congressional hearings.
