How You Will Contribute:
The Therapist is responsible for providing individual and group therapy sessions for clients in a specialized Outpatient facility. Position is responsible for assessing the therapeutic needs of the individuals and families, and for developing appropriate treatment. Therapists act as the primary contact for clients and families throughout the treatment process and serve as a client advocate with the treatment team. Position acts as a liaison with referral sources, clinical partners, and individuals to coordinate care throughout the treatment process.
Essential Responsibilities:
Demonstrates a high level of clinical skill in assessing the clinical needs of clients, determining appropriate interventions, and conducting individual and group therapy sessions in accordance with these needs.
Completes psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, contact logs, discharge plans and other reports required for each client in compliance with State, accrediting bodies, quality guidelines and payor source guidelines.
Conducts weekly individual and family therapy sessions for assigned caseload.
Monitors behavioral interventions for each client and provides skills coaching as needed.
Conducts specialized groups as assigned based on education, training, and experience; supervises or co-leads groups with staff or interns when appropriate.
Selects appropriate interventions to meet the clinical needs of individual clients.
Maintains therapeutic relationship with clients using praise and other reinforcers to encourage appropriate behaviors and attitudes.
Sets limits and hold boundaries in a kind and firm manner
Demonstrates an understanding of identifying abuse/neglect in client population.
Demonstrates effective verbal crisis intervention and de-escalation, involving other staff as needed.
Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate client care from admission through discharge.
Attends weekly clinical, consultation and business meetings; present cases to be discussed as pre-assigned.
Completes documentation in a timely and accurate manner reflecting ongoing assessment of client's clinical presentation and behaviors.
Communicates client progress with the referral source, family, parent, or guardian informed of treatment goals and plans, as appropriate.
Documents in accordance with policies and procedures services provided, incident reports, shift reports, or department reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Communicates with referents, residents, and families appropriately and effectively.
Uses the referral process to build relationships with new referents and engages in collaboration with referents.
Addresses residents, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in a pleasant and respectful manner.
Responds to clients and families with empathy and positive professional skills.
Qualifications
What We Are Seeking
Position requires a master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy or psychology. Must hold CA licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or LMHC), active associate number or intern number from the Board of Behavioral Sciences, in good standing. Position requires a minimum of one (1) year experience working with clients with substance use disorders and/or borderline personality disorder. Certification or significant experience in providing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), strongly preferred.
Other Requirements
Clearance of TB test, fingerprinting and state clearance, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.

The role is significant and requires an individual who can anticipate needs, has excellent follow through and can positively handle many different and diverse responsibilities effectively and efficiently with a positive and “can do” attitude.
The MentalHealth Associate/Intern will provide on-site mentalhealth services to formerly homeless children and their families living in permanent supportive housing in Pleasant Hill. The position can be part or full-time depending on your needs. Individual supervision, group supervision and training are all provided. Associates provide services in an on-site play therapy room, in family homes and in the community. Some evening and occasional weekend hours will be required.
Applicants of diverse backgrounds who have experience working with low-income families with multiple challenges are encouraged to apply. Applicants with competency working with culturally diverse populations are strongly desired.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Support formerly homeless children to reach their full potential (75%)
:
Provide milieu-based mentalhealth services to
individual children
living in permanent supportive housing who are experiencing emotional challenges. Many of these children may be receiving EPSDT (Early and Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment) services.
Provide on-site individual and group mentalhealth therapeutic services to children.
Assist in delivering on-site parenting support groups to families.
Collaborate with case managers and the youth enrichment coordinator to provide support for individual children and their families, using a team approach. Assist with staff supervision of volunteer programs and community activities delivered to families served by CCIH. These may include evening and occasional weekend commitments.
Work with other staff members to provide community resources for families and individuals, such as social and health related activities, life-skills and employment support, and youth enrichment.
Stay on top of the paperwork and administrative details to keep the program running (15%)
:
Complete accurate and timely EPSDT chart notes for all services provided to children who are assigned under this contract.
Meet individual EPSDT contract goals for hourly billing, including averaging a minimum of 10 - 12 hours per week (depending on work schedule) of direct service to clients who are assigned under this contract.
Assist the services team with appropriate clinical documentation, including progress notes, service delivery documentation, reports, and forms.
Continuously improve your skills and work with team members and community partners to provide excellent services (10%)
Participate in weekly group and individual supervision, using that time to work on developing therapeutic skills and clinical knowledge, as well as exploring growth opportunities as a mentalhealth provider.
Participate in clinical training as possible/needed.
Represent CCIH in a professional manner in all circumstances.
Maintain awareness of culturally diverse consumer populations and perform duties in a culturally competent manner.
Attend all required meetings, including but not limited to: CCIH staff meetings, Internal team meetings, and linkage meetings with other agencies.
Qualifications
Position Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling.
Registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an intern working toward licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
Experience with low-income and disenfranchised populations desired.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft, and database applications.
Must pass LiveScan screening and TB test.

Provide crisis intervention as needed; stabilize clients in crisis including brief intervention in the clinic; arrange for hospitalization and coordinates treatment elements.
Conduct examinations and formulate a diagnosis.
Participate in clinical case presentations and peer reviews. Take the lead to coordinate with interdisciplinary team members regarding the client's treatment progress and need for modification of service plan.
65% of the time will be spent providing direct claimable services.
Provide services in school, home, clinic, and field settings, often independently.
Coordinate services with schools, county departments, community agencies, and primary care clinics in coordinating referrals and ensuring continuity of care for clients.

Participate in individual or group clinical supervision meeting as assigned
Participate in staff meetings, training, peer review meetings and consultations as assigned
Clinical Charting
Document clinical assessments, evaluations and develop treatment service plans for all clients served promptly.
Maintain and keep current clinical charts promptly.
Document and maintain clinical records per appropriate standards and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or higher from an accredited school in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology or related field
Bilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin or Khmer.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in providing individual, group counseling, and clinical case management in API and SMI communities preferred.
Knowledge of cultural issues, community resources, and family dynamics preferred.
Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation standards preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed and registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California as an LCSW, LMFT, LPPC or Board of Psychology and Psychological Assistant
