YCP Mentors are professional filmmakers that teach 90-minute film classes, twice a week to students in 5th - 12th grades. In collaboration with a co-mentor, YCP Mentors implement our rigorous filmmaking curriculum and guide students through the filmmaking process to produce high-quality short film content over the course of the school year (Jan - June). YCP Mentors can expect to work 7-14 hours a week. Minimum Requirements: Candidates MUST have a minimum of 3 years working in the film industry as a producer, director or in any below-the-line position. Candidates MUST have expertise in at least one specific area of filmmaking. Candidates MUST have editing experience - not to a professional editors level but enough to edit simple short content. Candidates MUST be comfortable using Google Suite Travel (up to 50 miles) may be required. Mileage is reimbursed. Candidates MUST have a Bachelors in film. Candidates MUST be comfortable in a school environment teaching children. Responsible for facilitating the development and maintenance of program goals and objectives of their assigned schools through a series of consistent personnel meetings, chapter meetings, monthly site observations and periodic reviews of program sessions and semesters. Establish organizational awareness at their respective sites, informing and educating field staff on opportunities, challenges and events affecting ASAS-LA as a whole. Maintain positive and open communication with school administration and faculty. Manage individual site budgets, maintain revenue through high student attendance (ADA), identify in-kind opportunities to control costs, manage and track program inventory, as well as review and approve payroll and other HR documentation. Work directly with Program Specialists in maintaining student participation (dosage) and attendance (ADA) throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities, including student "voice and choice" strategies. Promote staff excellence through professional development opportunities, periodic assessments and renewed leadership strategies. Ensure operating compliance and approved business practices with state, city and local school district policies and procedures regarding human resources, discipline procedures, safety protocols, program audits and reporting procedures. Accountable for entry, tracking, and reporting of attendance, grades and demographic data. Availability to work evenings and weekends if necessary. Willing to travel to off-site meetings, trainings and events. To perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: MUST have at least 1 year of experience working in a leadership and supervisory capacity in an after-school, day camp or community youth outreach setting. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents and community leaders. Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs. Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation. Excellent organizational and managerial skills. Familiarity with basic computer software programs. CPR and First Aid Certifications. Must clear DOJ and FBI Livescan, DMV H6 and Tuberculosis Clearance. At Least 21 years of age. Fluency in a language other than English highly desirable. Baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation or related field is desirable but not required.
