About the role
The Peer Mentor I is responsible for working alongside a multidisciplinary care team to help people recover from an eating disorder. Peer Mentors focus on providing patients with rapport building, skill building, motivational interviewing, and practical support. Outside of patient sessions, Peer Mentors run support groups for patients and members of their support system, and take on additional tasks as needed. Peer Mentors are comfortable with, and passionate about, sharing their lived experience with eating disorder recovery with individuals currently in the process of treatment and recovery.
Working Hours
Working Hours - Monday - Friday, between 8am-8pm Eastern Time. Each work day is 8 hours, including lunch, breaks, and 2 late work days where your day starts later (10 AM) and also ends later (8 PM) in your patient population time zone. For example, we have Eastern Time, Central Time, and Pacific Time Peer Mentors. If you are hired as an Eastern Time Peer Mentor, your hours will be in Eastern time, given the majority of your patients will live in Eastern Time. Responsibilities
Maintain an up-to-date calendar with availability to enable patients to book sessions.
Meet with patients for virtual sessions, tailoring session content to the patient's unique needs, actively listening, and holding space for patient experiences.
Co-facilitate support groups for patients and their supporters.
Practice responsible self-disclosure, drawing from lived experience to an appropriate degree.
Consistently complete thorough and timely documentation according to Equip standards for other providers to access, review, and reference.

The Experience of Service as a Mentor Guide:
In collaboration with the Guided Mentoring team, you will focus on engaging and supporting around 5-10 high school mentors in the curriculum and practices of the Guided Mentoring program. You will help plan and facilitate lessons and activities which are fun, play-based, and help youth dream big. These activities will be delivered through weekly school day classroom programming and/or afterschool programming, as well as occasional out of school time adventure experiences. Our objectives include helping to prepare high school youth to have effective, impactful mentorship relationships with elementary age youth, and provide opportunities for them to strengthen and expand their sense of place, identity, and meaning and purpose. Flexibility exists in the breadth and depth of the Mentor Guide's role and responsibilities which will be determined in partnership with the regional manager and school personnel partners. Primary Objectives of Service as a Mentor Guide:

Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare (CBH) has an immediate opening for a full time Youth Substance Use Disorders (SUD) School Based Peer Support. This position provides support, mentorship, and advocacy for youth and young adults who are navigating active use/addiction, familial use/addiction and/or wanting to educate themselves on the risks/signs of substance use. Using lived experience, the CRM builds trusting relationships, supports recovery goals, and promotes youth empowerment and self-advocacy. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred (with 10% bilingual bonus to hourly rate) for this position.
Essential Duties/Major Responsibilities:
• Provide peer-based recovery support services to youth (typically ages 13-18) with substance use and/or co-occurring mental health challenges.
• Share lived experience in a way that inspires hope and demonstrates that recovery is possible.
• Provide non-contingent supportive relationship to targeted individuals. Mentor them in whatever their stage of recovery is and help them identify positive coping skills and healthy living activities.
• Build trusting, supportive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Support youth in developing recovery and wellness goals.
• Support youth in navigating challenges related to familial use. Provide education and safe space for processing.
• Support youth in becoming well informed, positive social influences on peers/peer groups.
• Provide education on substance use risk and signs of use, “how to help a friend”.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate peer support groups, wellness activities, and educational workshops.
• Assist youth in accessing community resources (e.g., treatment, housing, education, employment, legal support).
• Advocate for youth voice in treatment planning and decision-making.
• Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, and families as part of a coordinated care team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in a timely manner.
• Attend training, supervision, and team meetings regularly.

Required Education and Experience:
