Ensuring mentors and mentees have an amazing experience, are well trained, and there is a 1:1 ratio of mentors and mentees, as well as strategic planning for chapter wellness (recruitment, preparation for mentees of graduating mentors, supporting compliance of youth documents and background checks, etc.) The Experience of Service as a Mentor Coordinator: Developing a relationship with and responding to the program's direction, the needs of the Youth Services Manager, and the campus mentoring programs will be critical to success. Members should expect to serve for 10-15 hours a week in the later afternoon-evenings, some weekends, catering to the needs of the mentoring chapters you're supporting. At the start of your service, your regular schedule will be created and communicated with your team. Evening times will regularly be spent in meetings with and conversing with volunteers and mentors, as well as conducting training. You will be responsible for attending your chapter's weekly Village Mentoring program. Communication with mentors and the regional office team occurs every week (or more frequently as circumstances may direct). Mentor Coordinators are expected to attend a weekly experience/support meeting with the teams you are a part of. Mentor coordinators should expect to serve for the entirety of the academic year. Compensation and DREAM AmeriCorps Benefits: Living Stipend provided to you in biweekly payments of $250. Upon the completion of the service term, AmeriCorps members are eligible to receive the Segal Education Award, which can be used to pay education expenses or repay qualified student loans. $1565.08 for a 300 hour term. Essential Functions and Duties: Provide individual mentoring to youth who reside in Akron with justice involvement, expulsion from school, and at least one documented risk factor. Engage and mentor a mentee once per week for the duration of the school year with continued engagement during the summer months. Engage mentee with activities that allow for rapport building, conversation, and mentor/mentee relationship development. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Relationship building: Establish and maintain a trusting and dependable relationship with assigned youth, providing companionship and emotional support. • Case management and planning: Help youth identify and work toward goals by developing, implementing, and updating individual achievement or goal plans. • Life skills development: Coach youth on a range of daily living skills, such as financial literacy, career readiness, and independent living skills for those transitioning out of foster care. • Educational support: Assist with academic achievement, monitor school attendance and grades, and provide tutoring or homework help. • Resource connection: Link youth and their families to necessary community resources, including social, health, and mental health services. • Advocacy and collaboration: Act as a liaison between the youth, their family, school, and other agency staff. Attend meetings and court hearings to advocate for the youth's best interests. • Crisis support: Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when needed. • Administrative tasks: Maintain accurate case notes, files, progress reports, and other documentation required by the agency. • Actively Participates in staff meetings and treatment team meetings, offering relevant input and feedback and accepting such from the team Perks of this role: Competitive pay of $18 per hour Does the following apply to you? The Family Peer Mentor Recovery Coach (FPM) serves families referred to children services due to child abuse or neglect and parental substance use. The FPM provides peer support to help families navigate through the child welfare and other systems while also providing hope and motivation to keep children safe and families together. A complete job description is attached. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Must be certified as a Peer Specialist at time of hire or within the first 6 months. Must be a self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services; or a self-identified person in recovery from substance abuse disorder (recommended 3 years). Must have lived-experience with the child welfare system either as a parent or child, with the case closed at least one year or if you do not have direct CPS experience, be able to describe how your substance use affected your child(ren) and family. May not currently receive clinical services at OneEighty. If in recovery from addiction must have two years of continuous sobriety. Must have a valid Ohio Driver License and maintain a driving record that allows the individual to be insurable with the insurance company providing OneEighty's vehicle insurance. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid or able to attain certification. Must be trained in administering Narcan. Must demonstrate no ongoing criminal activity. Ability to use a computer; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel. Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards. Must maintain appropriate boundaries with clients as set forth in Agency Policies and Procedures. Must have written communication skills which support the ability to submit accurate documentation and effectively communicate. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to facilitate and maintain productive communication while maintaining a professional relationship with clients and coworkers. Ability to work as a team. Work Schedule and Benefits: Full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt hourly position. Schedule is determined by agency needs, anytime between the hours of 8am-9pm.
