Basic Function / Position Objective:
We are currently seeking a mentor for our Childhood program (kindergarten to 5th Grade) to serve as a positive adult role model to eight male elementary children and develop loving, caring, and sustained relationships with each child. For each child, a Friend will set positive expectations; nurture and promote each child's strength, talents, and abilities; help ensure physical and emotional well-being; teach life and academic skills; provide enrichment activities; and model responsible behavior. A Friend will fully document activities and participate in the ongoing evaluation process. Friends will work primarily one-on-one with the children they serve, while also building trusting supportive relationships with parents/caregivers. A Friend must know, understand, honor, and support the organization's mission, vision, values, and principles, and be able to clearly articulate the organization's function.
Essential Responsibilities
* Develop and sustain a long-term, caring, protective, and loving relationship with each child.
* Spend time with children, one-on-one.
* Partner with parents/caregivers to provide concrete and social-emotional supports for the family.

* Complete, distribute, and collect time summaries, activity journals, short-term plans, expense reports, and evaluations materials accurately and in a timely manner.
* Attend and actively participate in team meetings and staff functions.
* Maintain current driver's license, good driving record, and vehicle insurance.
* Maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
* Transport children in personal vehicle as required for mentoring activities.
* Provide information and support to the development and executive team on related activities.
* Fulfill other responsibilities as requested.

What exactly do College Access Mentors do?
IYT's Mentor Fellowship Program is an opportunity for diverse college or recent high school and college graduates and emerging leaders to develop strong, innovative, and empathetic leadership skills while supporting young scholars on their journey to and through college. College Access Mentors serve at middle school, high school or local college campuses providing valuable mentorship and academic support to IYT participants in our College Academy program.

Position Description
Dreamline Mentors provide social-emotional support and mentorship to students who are struggling to meet their academic and personal goals. Each Mentor works in their assigned school (locations are in the Metro or Greater Minnesota) with a cohort of 20-25 students to develop meaningful relationships and motivate students to set and achieve their personal goals.
Role and Responsibilities
Mentors identify individual student needs and tailor their approach, incorporating strategies for racially and ethnically diverse students. This is accomplished through mentoring, tutoring, classroom support, expanded learning opportunities, after-school support, and more.
The Dreamline Mentor is also responsible for ensuring the highest quality of program delivery at their school site through reporting accurate data, building strong relationships with school staff and teachers, and engaging families as needed.

Each Mentor works in their assigned school (locations are in the Metro or Greater Minnesota) with a cohort of 20-25 students to develop meaningful relationships and motivate students to set and achieve their personal goals.
Role and Responsibilities
Mentors identify individual student needs and tailor their approach, incorporating strategies for racially and ethnically diverse students. This is accomplished through mentoring, tutoring, classroom support, expanded learning opportunities, after-school support, and more.
The Dreamline Mentor is also responsible for ensuring the highest quality of program delivery at their school site through reporting accurate data, building strong relationships with school staff and teachers, and engaging families as needed.
Dreamline Mentors will also participate in other Sanneh Foundation programs or events as needed, including monthly professional development and fundraising events. Lastly, Mentors will have the opportunity to attend professional sporting events and cultural events.
Academic Support
Develop a meeting schedule with the mentee and plan at the outset of the program.
Help mentees establish clear, achievable goals and develop action plans to reach them.
Offer support with studies, homework, and test preparation.
Help mentees understand course material, identify areas where they need improvement, and develop effective learning strategies.
Personal Development & Promoting Emotional Well-Being
Create a safe, supportive environment for mentees to express their concerns and anxieties.
Help mentees develop mechanisms for stress and anxiety and connect them with appropriate resources if needed.
Help mentees develop essential life skills, such as time management, communication, and problem-solving.
Provide guidance on social skills and navigating interpersonal relationships.
Commitment and Professionalism

Required Education & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
At least one year of full-time work or volunteer experience
Passion for and interest in working with youth
Skills to build meaningful relationships with students and staff
Ability to work effectively with youth and adults from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, and culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, language, abilities/disabilities, socioeconomic status, etc.

The Family Education Support (FES) Mentor position is funded by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), Refugee Programs Office (RPO) and provides allowable Refugee Support Services to Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)-eligible individuals and families who have been in the United States for less than five (5) years, in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
This position delivers intensive, individualized, and family-centered mentoring services to newly arrived refugees, asylees, and other immigrants with humanitarian protection status residing in Central Minnesota. Services are designed to support educational success, family stability, community integration, and progress toward self-sufficiency, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with the St. Cloud Area School District, local community partners, and resettlement agencies.
The FES Mentor will use the Check & Connect evidence-based mentorship model to mentor students, supporting engagement, attendance, goal setting, and academic success. This role also includes assisting families in navigating school systems, accessing community resources, and supporting overall family wellbeing. All services, outputs, and outcomes must be documented in the MRIS data system, consistent with DHS RPO reporting and compliance standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide direct mentoring and family support services to ORR-eligible children, youth, and families.
Use the Check & Connect evidence-based mentorship model to mentor students, supporting engagement, attendance, goal setting, and academic success.
Conduct Family Wellbeing Inventories upon enrollment and update service plans aligned with family goals and program requirements.
Support students and families in navigating educational systems, setting measurable goals, and accessing school-based and community resources.
Collaborate with school personnel to address attendance, academic progress, behavioral concerns, and post-secondary planning.
Coordinate with community partners and resettlement agencies to ensure timely referrals and service linkage.
Facilitate or coordinate workshops, informational sessions, and group activities relevant to the needs of enrolled families.
Support student integration and engagement in school and community activities.
Ensure services are culturally responsive, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and consistent with refugee service best practices.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of services, outputs, and outcomes in MRIS.
Participate in program meetings, supervision, case reviews, and DHS RPO monitoring activities as required.
Comply with all DHS RPO, ORR, and CAIRO policies, including data privacy and confidentiality standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field or a minimum of four (4) years of combined experience and/or training in human services or a related field.
Demonstrated experience working with refugees, immigrants, or other underserved populations.
Fluency in Somali (required).
Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while meeting program performance and reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing school-based mentoring, youth engagement, or family-centered services.
Two or more years of experience in:
Case management
Employment or vocational counseling
Community mental health or social services
