Job Summary
This full-time Recovery Mentor position is gender responsive, serving female identifying participants. The mentor will be providing peer recovery support to participants who are currently involved in the criminal justice system. Working in close partnership with Probation and Parole Officers and community partners, the Recovery Mentor acts as a peer role model and documents the progress for each participant. The Recovery Mentor assists participants in engaging in addiction recovery activities and developing recovery support in various communities.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Certified in an Oregon State Mental Health and Addictions approved training as a Certified Recovery Mentor within 90 days of hire
2 years clean/sober with a verifiable program of recovery
Free from supervision in any state
Personal vehicle, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Bridges to Change's auto liability policy requirements
Demonstrated success at working effectively in a diverse, collaborative team environment, with skills in promoting inclusion and cultural responsiveness
Experience in collaborating with community partners to identify shortcomings in the organization and in building partnerships to improve outcomes
Lived experience related to population being served, past probation experience, preferred

Working Conditions
Environment and Physical Requirements:
The Recovery Mentor works in an office environment; however, the position frequently visits field locations including homes, courtrooms, recovery centers, and other indoor and outdoor locations. Those locations are subject to a variety of environmental weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, and dust. The position frequently requires daily travel by car. The Recovery Mentor interacts constantly with staff, visitors, program participants, government agencies, and others. The position stands, walks, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. The incumbent must be able to lift, push, pull and move files and equipment in excess of 15 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, forty hours per week with flexibility in scheduling. The Recovery Mentor also travels extensively and may be required to occasionally work extended hours including evening, weekend and/or holiday work as job duties demand.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refer persons served to appropriate resources; advocate to obtain required services as necessary; provide information and education on wellness-related issues.

Work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor or designee who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision and lead work are not responsibilities of this classification. If an appointing authority assigns an employee to a full spectrum of lead worker duties, the county shall compensate the employee as described in the Marion County Personnel Rules.
The incumbent in this position upholds confidentiality rules/regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Services may be delivered in person or via telehealth; services may be delivered in the following locations, but not limited to office or in the community including settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services (e.g., PCC, schools, hospitals, jail, courtroom, residences including transitional treatment bed). The incumbent performs all of the following using a person-centered, strengths-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and ethically-guided approach. This position is stationed and dispatched from the Behavioral Health Crisis Center.
* Builds rapport with persons served. Identifies the needs of persons served and their families; conducts outreach to engage persons who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports; assists persons served in reestablishing awareness of internal resources such as intelligence, competence, goal setting, and problem-solving abilities; identifies health and safety risks to self or others; applies crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation skills.

* Provides outreach and engagement in partnership with peace officers and corrections professionals; determines and addresses immediate/crisis needs at the point of contact with peace officers and thereafter; ensures the safety and stability of persons served; identifies when there is a need for professional substance use disorders and/or mental health assessment by a qualified professional; assists with intake procedures; gathers information relevant to demographic, substance use/legal/incarceration history, physical and mental health, housing, and employment; prepares and updates case management plans; provides referral/case management/follow-up supports to assist persons served in acquiring benefits and services; prepares and maintains confidential records; monitors progress and collaborate with community partners; provides transportation and accompanies persons served as they access services and supports (e.g., medical and addiction mental health treatment appointments, legal hearings, housing tours, DMV, etc.); attempts to locate persons served who are unhoused for the purpose of engagement and support; and inputs information into a web-based system in a timely manner.
* Documents services rendered in a timely, professional, clear, accurate, and complete manner and in accordance with timelines set forth in policy.
* Participates in team meetings and supervision; receives constructive feedback in an open manner; incorporates work quality improvements under the coaching of the supervisor.
* Provides back up to BHCC by answering phones via logging into TouchPoint.
* Performs other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. What you need:

The position will work with the Early Learning System Initiative (ELSI, website: ************************************ at Oregon State University (OSU) as part of the Coaching Core.
The incumbent will serve in two primary activities within ELSI Coaching Core. First, the incumbent will lead and manage the mentoring and reflective consultation efforts for a diverse, and multilingual group of ELSI mentor coaches. These consultation efforts will be informed by their coaching practices and competencies (i.e., Oregon Coaching Competencies) and the Mentor Coach Framework (focuses on reflective, relationship-based, culturally responsive, anti-racist and trauma-informed practices). This consultation includes 1:1 meetings with ELSI mentor coaches as well as facilitating a ELSI mentor coach community of practice, using reflective dialogue and a relationship-based approach. Second, the incumbent will support the continuous development of Oregon coach professional learning pathways. 70% - Program Development and Management:
* Lead and manage the mentoring and reflective consultation efforts for ELSI mentor coaches, informed by the Oregon Coaching Competencies, ELSI Mentor Coach Framework, and Practice-Based Coaching. Consult with Core Lead(s) and ELSI leadership as needed to meet deliverables.
* Offer 1:1 meetings and whole group connections (e.g., community of practice) with ELSI mentor coaches in reflective consultation with the goal of improving their mentor coaching practice and skills (defined within the Oregon Coaching Competencies), in support of the diverse and multilingual coaches for Oregon early care and education educators.

What You Will Need
* Masters degree from an accredited institution in Child Development, Human Development and Family Sciences, Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or related field.
* Experience providing mentoring and/or consultation to mentor/lead coaches who coach early educators (birth-kindergarten).
* Experience using Practice-Based Coaching in practice with educators (as a coach) and/or in professional development or higher-education settings to support coaches of early educators.

Job Duties:

JOB SUMMARY: Recovery Mentors are a critical part of the SUD Treatment Team and work with SUD clients who are attempting to engage in recovery or in early stages of recovery. The majority of clients who are assigned Recovery Mentor services are involved in our intensive outpatient/Day Treatment program; some clients may be waiting for a residential treatment bed to come open or stepping down from residential treatment into the Day Treatment program. Recovery Mentors are not counselors or clinicians but provide supports to clients that counselors are not able to offer. The Recovery Mentor works with their Supervisor to design and implement education, referral, and parent components of the program. The Recovery Mentor is responsible for helping to facilitate classes and support groups along with group activities. They will maintain a personal recovery program, if applicable, as well as model recovery-appropriate behavior.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Participates and provides recovery coaching to people involved with BestCare Treatment Services using the following methods for engagement with clients:
Makes regular telephone contact which may include talking with clients who need support and are feeling prone to relapse; reminder calls to clients who are scheduled for assessments, groups, individual sessions; doing outreach to client who miss group or individual services to attempt to reengage them in treatment services;
Provides client transportation (when approved by supervisor): taking clients to/from treatment services/appointments, transport to detox or residential treatment, and other appointments when it is determined to be helpful by the primary clinician or treatment team;
Provides recovery coaching for clients during activities;
Makes home visits on a limited basis, with supervisor approval;
Attend sober support meetings, or other sober activities, in the community with clients.
Helps monitor and stay connected to clients who are in residential (and detox) to help with reengagement upon discharge;
Takes individuals or groups of clients to 12-Step meetings and/or clean and sober activities as appropriate;
Provides case management services including referrals to various resources (i.e. Food Bank, primary care/medical services, education entities, housing resources, etc.);
Assists prep and clean-up for evening groups as needed;
Provides individual, couples, and family support;
Helping clinicians in groups at the office, jail, etc. Providing back-up in groups and other treatment activities;
Helping clients develop and connect to non-using recovery activities (how to have fun clean and sober);
Maintains case notes of client contact within agency documentation timelines in the electronic health record system (EHR);
Assists the SUD team with UA drug testing if needed;
Completes attendance sheets, required report forms, and reports client participation to Supervisor;
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor or Program Manager.

* Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
* Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
* Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
* High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
* Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
* Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
* Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Additional Required Qualifications
Must have participated in the TRIO SSS program.
Minimum 2.50 GPA required.
Must have valid Driver's license.
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU
Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.

This recruitment will be used to fill five (5) part-time (not to exceed 20 hours per week) Student Support Services (Peer Mentor) positions with the TRIO department at Oregon State University (OSU).
TRIO SSS Peer Mentors will support TRIO's effort to facilitate a successful college transitional experience for the incoming SSS Summer Bridge cohort. Peer Mentors will be working with new SSS participants during the Summer Bridge Program, as well as the remainder of the academic year.
SSS Peer Mentors will help create a welcoming environment and familiarize SSS participants with college life. They will help the incoming SSS cohort adapt socially and academically, as well as monitor any adjustment issues.
Peer Mentors will help the new SSS participants navigate college life at Oregon State University by providing the students information about available resources on campus, orienting them to the expectations of an institution of higher education, and encouraging participation in all SSS activities and events. It is required that the SSS Peer Mentors participate in all SSS planned peer mentoring activities.
Anticipated Hourly Rate: $16.15

Position Duties
* Coordinate volunteer program and work directly with selected non-profit organizations
* Attend Summer START sessions to represent TRIO and recruit program participants
* Participate as Peer Mentors in the SSS Summer Bridge Program Participate in planning and conducting student workshops and activities
* Meet with your assigned SSS students weekly during fall, winter and spring terms
* Assist in coordinating and participate in all SSS on-and-off campus events
* Off campus events require Mentors to drive
* Attend and participate in all SSS Peer Mentoring meetings
