Contract/Hourly Employment/Extracurricular Assignment - Professional Personnel County: Mercer County Schools Additional Information: Show/Hide Teachers who apply for these positions should have previously attended the teacher mentor training provided and/or plan to attend the training this school year held by the West Virginia Department of Education. Teacher Mentor positions will be available to assist new teachers acclimate to Mercer County Schools. The selection of these trained mentors will be based on the new teachers' programmatic levels and certification. Mentors will be assigned within the school of the new teachers' home school. Mentors will be required to attend the six (6) Network Meetings to meet their mentees as well as visit assigned mentees who do not attend the Network Meetings. Mentors will also need to meet before/after school (outside of their workday) with their mentee monthly. Stipends will be provided for these positions based upon their amount of time worked. Mentor Teachers will be hired based on an as needed basis. * Note: Extra-Curricular contracts are one (1) year only contracts will terminate at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. There are two types of Education Alliance AmeriCorps Mentors: 1) part-time members who complete 675 hours of service (21 hours per week) during an 8-month period of time who receive a $2,817.14 education award and $7,500.00 per term living allowance; and 2) full-time members who complete 1,200 hours of service (30 hours per week) during a 10-month period of time who receive a $5,176.50 education award and $13,300.00 per term living allowance. Members serve in the beautiful hills of West Virginia that offers numerous outdoor activities including hiking, biking, mountain climbing, white water rafting, and skiing.
