* Arranges for sale or purchase of personal and real property for Conservatees.
* Locates and interviews relatives and associates of decedents regarding estate assets and potential executors or administrators; determines, collects, and secures sources of estate assets such as bank accounts, safe deposit boxes, insurance and real property.
* Determines decedent debts and obligations by contacting creditors, banks, mortgage companies, and public tax authorities.
* Protects the estates of decedents or conservatees from exploitation, waste, or loss by searching for, locating and taking control of all assets, budgeting expenditures, managing or disposing of real property, and safeguarding or disposing of personal property.
* Establishes and maintains accurate case files and notes documenting activities performed on behalf of the decedent estate or conservatee and/or the conservatee's estate.
* Attends Court hearings, including Court and Jury trials.
* Testifies at hearing regarding recommendations on conservatorships and estates.
* Assists County Counsel in pretrial preparation.
* Assists Counsel of Record on behalf of Conservatees in all criminal and civil hearings other than conservatorship hearings.
* Assist with final arrangements for decedents.
Experience:
Two (2) years of paid experience with a public or private agency providing case worker services to dependent, disabled or indigent persons which involved management of client personal or financial affairs.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or University system.
Additional full-time, paid qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
License:
Possess a valid California driver's license at time of appointment and maintain.
Certification by the California State Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardians and Public Conservators within two (2) years of date of appointment.

Background / Pre-employment Polygraph Examination / Psychological Evaluation: The background evaluation will include a pre-employment polygraph examination and psychological evaluation and will assess overall suitability for employment only as a Kern County Deputy Sheriff Trainee. This evaluation may not indicate present suitability for other law enforcement positions or future suitability as a Kern County Sheriff's Detentions Deputy Trainee. Candidates must be found satisfactory in all respects on the Background Evaluation. Candidates determined to be unsuitable on this evaluation, or who have previously been found unsuitable, are encouraged to wait a minimum of twelve months before they may reapply for this classification.
Sheriff's Detentions Deputy: Salary Range - $2,756.94 - $3,294.80/bi-weekly. Incumbents promoted to Sheriff's Detentions Deputy must fulfill all requirements for the position.

Summary of Benefits for Detentions Deputy
Recruitment Bonus: The County will provide all employees hired on or after November 9, 2021, in a permanent capacity as a Detentions Deputy with the Sheriff's Office a $15,000 non-pensionable recruitment and retention bonus. The bonus shall be payable in full upon appointment by the Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator subject to completion of a 5-year term of service as a Detentions Deputy rank or higher, including in any continuing capacity as a sworn peace officer with the County of Kern. Appointees who do not complete the agreed upon term of service shall be subject to repayment of the bonus with the following amortization schedule:
1. Less than one year of services - $15,000
2. Less than two years of services - $12,000
3. Less than three years of services - $9,000
4. Less than four years of services - $6,000
5. Less than five years of services - $3,000

Vacation: 13 days and accrual rate increases yearly

Shift Differential: The County will pay shift differential pay of 7.5% of base pay for any time worked between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

Safety Tier 2 - PEPRA. EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, food services and/or related area required. Master's degree in related field, preferred. And
Possess and maintain credential as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
EXPERIENCE:
One year of experience in a WIC Program or other public health program preferred.
Minimum of one-year experience using mainframe data entry software preferred.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), or Certified Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC), Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), or Certified Lactation Educator Specialist (CLES) preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, related business software and general computer skills.
Proficient in variety of electronic communication, including but not limited to, two-way texting (via computer software), emailing, instant messaging, operating multiple phone line system, and video conferencing.
Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to understand and apply written and oral instructions and guidelines.
Bilingual in English and Spanish or other secondary languages may be required based on locations and needs of clients.
Ability to understand and apply written and oral instructions and guidelines.
Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.
Ability to work well with youth/teens, multicultural groups, and with contracted service providers and representatives of partnering agencies.

This is a Department Promotional examination open only to current eligible employees of the Kern County Sheriff's Office who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and received an overall rating of standard or better on the last employee performance report.
Examinations: Written Exam (Weight 100%): Written examination will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of the procedures and techniques used in the installation, configuration, support troubleshooting and repair of applicable operating systems, server and storage related equipment, software applications, other IT hardware and peripherals; network and security concepts; basic network administration; Directory Services, such as Active Directory; general principles of office automation, and computer systems analysis; techniques to evaluate customers' needs and requirements and identify possible business solutions.
Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during the scheduled date/time/location without exception.
The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:
Level I:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, including 15 semester (25 quarter) units in computer science or management information systems AND one (1) year of paid experience in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, managing or coordinating the data processing operations for a department or organization;
OR
Completion of (60) semester (90) quarter units from an accredited college or university with course work in computer science or management information systems AND three (3) years of paid experience, one (1) of which must have been in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, managing or coordinating the data processing operations for a department or organization
OR
Completion of an accredited trade or vocational school training program in computer repair, computer science or information systems AND three (3) years paid experience, one (1) of which must have been in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, managing or coordinating the data processing operations for a department or organization
OR
Two (2) years of experience as a Technical Support Specialist III in the Kern County classification systems.
OR
Five (5) years of experience, three (3) of which must have been in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, managing or coordinating the data processing operations for a department or organization
Applicants must possess the physical capacity to perform all essential tasks.
A valid Class "C" California Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
