    Reporting to the Coordinator of Residency Reclassification Services in the Office of the University Registrar and indirectly reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Residency Reclassifications Specialist assumes responsibilities related to residency reclassifications for tuition purposes and works collaboratively with the Residency Reclassification Services team. The position also initiates, undertakes, and leads special projects, prepares documents for imaging, administers special programs, trains Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff and admissions review evaluators on the residency systems (including the website and the university's student information system), policy, and processes. The position additionally assists with new initiatives, and oversees, maintains, and updates website content and communications related to residency reclassification services provided to incoming students; and, reviews and recommends enhancements to the university's online services and the functionalities of the student information system related to residency reclassifications for tuition purposes. In the provision of expertise and counsel against barriers to students' full-time matriculation at the university, the incumbent additionally serves as a vital advisor on the Enrollment Management Enrollment Defense Team. These decisions are highly impactful to students and to the university, and therefore require the incumbent to utilize a high level of critical thinking and decision-making skills in thoroughly understanding, interpreting, and diligently and accurately executing the determinations of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents (BOR) policy on Student Classification for Admission and Tuition Purposes. Accordingly, the incumbent reviews admissions applications and petitions pertaining to the residency classification of incoming and admitted students, and uses policy interpretation skills in rendering residency reclassification decisions that impact students' decisions to attend the university.
