An Attorney I is the primary attorney assigned to a caseload defending 1 and 3 party cases relating to the defense of personal injury lawsuits. Most cases are valued at $50,000 or less. Cases are handled from inception through posttrial motions including bench trials, jury trials, and binding arbitration. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:
Essential job functions include a comprehensive review of new and transfer file assignments with initial evaluation letter to claims and service of initial discovery within 30 days of receipt of assignment.
Summarizing discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of receipt.
Taking and defending depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses and completion of deposition summaries within 20 days.
Law and motion: legal research; preparation of motions, oppositions and replies to motion; court appearance at law and motion.
Trial preparation, trial and posttrial motions. This includes but is not limited to preparation of pretrial documents, motions in limine and oppositions thereto; all facets of a jury trial, trial motions and posttrial motions.
Other miscellaneous tasks as may be necessary to adequately defend the insured including assignments from managing and senior managing attorneys.
Qualifications Education:
Minimum: Requires a law degree and admission to the bar in the state(s) were practicing.
Preferred: Requires a law degree from a state accredited or ABA accredited law school and admission to the bar in the state(s) were practicing.
Experience:
Minimum: Licensed in the state(s) where practicing.
Preferred: 3 plus years as a licensed attorney with insurance defense experience. 1st and 2nd chair trial experience a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
Minimum: Effective communication, persuasion and analytical skills. Requires considerable automobile travel, up to 20% of work time. Must meet established company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status to be eligible for position. Must be able to work independently with minimum direction and good organizational skills necessary to manage a caseload with exposures up to $50,000.

Position Summary

As an attorney in the Legal Department, you will:
Contract drafting and negotiation: Draft and negotiate a variety of legal documents for day-to-day operations, and in relations to any Company transaction. Such documents may include letters of intent, vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, and purchase/sale agreements.
Due diligence: Conduct legal diligence for any target company to identify potential legal risks, liabilities, and other issues that could impact the deal.
Deal structuring and advice: Provide strategic advice to the General Counsel and the Company, on the most beneficial structure for a transaction, considering business goals, tax implications, and corporate governance.
Regulatory compliance: Ensure all transactions comply with relevant laws and regulations, which can include securities, antitrust, and foreign investment laws.

Post-merger integration: Assist in the legal and operational integration of the two companies after the deal is complete.

Position Summary

As an attorney in the Legal Department, you will:
Contract drafting and negotiation: Draft and negotiate a variety of legal documents for day-to-day operations, and in relations to any Company transaction. Such documents may include letters of intent, vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, and purchase/sale agreements.
Due diligence: Conduct legal diligence for any target company to identify potential legal risks, liabilities, and other issues that could impact the deal.
Deal structuring and advice: Provide strategic advice to the General Counsel and the Company, on the most beneficial structure for a transaction, considering business goals, tax implications, and corporate governance.
