Overview
Our mission in the ICU is to provide healing, comfort and support to our patients and their families in times of critical need. This support is provided through two specialized ICUs: our 43 bed Pediatric ICU (PICU) and 24 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Our nursing staff can cross-train for both units.
Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses provide advanced illness management and health promotion for patients who require critical care. Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, family-centered and age appropriate nursing care for patients requiring critical care management. Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses continuously monitor the critically patient and react to changes in clinical status. Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses provide patient and family education, advocate for the complex needs of the critically ill child and coordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team as necessary.
Clinical Services
* 24-hour care provided by in-house board- certified pediatric critical care medicine specialists
* Advanced monitoring and life support technologies including:
* High frequency oscillation ventilation (HFOV)/All modes of ventilator assistance
* Invasive intravascular/intracardiac techniques
* Intracranial pressure monitoring
* Bedside dialysis/renal replacement therapy
* Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
* In-house consultation for 30 medical and eight surgical pediatric subspecialties

The American Academy of Pediatrics has designated Children's Mercy as a Level IV NICU. This is the highest designation available and means babies have access to a full range of more than 400 newborn medicine specialists, highly-trained pediatric nurses and anesthesiologists, and specialized equipment for our tiniest patients. Children's Mercy is the only hospital between St. Louis and Denver that can provide this level of care.
Every day, we care for more than 80 fragile newborns who are very small, sick, or need surgery have the region's best experts working every day to help them get stronger. Job Duties:
The CDI Educator works with CDI program leadership to plan, develop, and implement clinical documentation education programs for CDI specialists and providers. Develop a standard and comprehensive orientation and onboarding program for new members to the CDI team. Educate individuals and team members on the review functions within the CDI program in order to meet and maintain enterprise, goals and objectives, regulatory compliance, quality initiatives, policy and procedures, and personnel management. Create annual education based on coding and CDI industry updates, documentation gaps and trends, and evidenced based clinical care updates. Develops and promotes collaborative processes and strong working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals to accomplish program goals and ensure exceptional documentation.
This role is 40 hours weekly; Days. A minimum of 5 years RN work experience is required.
Certifications Required: Applicants must currently hold the required CDI certification in order to be considered for this position. Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP).
Job Duties:
Mentor, educate and train CDI to effectively and accurately onboard new staff to the CDI role. Monitor and evaluate reviews of select records for opportunity and accurate capture of patient acuity, severity of illness, risk of mortality, quality measure and metric support, and DRG assignment in compliance with industry rules and regulations, for completeness and accuracy of the medical record.
Monitors and provides feedback to the CDI team to ensure clinically credible, effective, and compliant practices.
Tract and analyze trends to ascertain where stronger education is needed for both providers and staff.
When documentation opportunity is identified, provide feedback to CDIS and monitor to determine if learning occurred and if it's a departmental trend.
If provider opportunity identified, collaborate with leadership and physician advisors.
If coding opportunity is identified, coordinate with coder and/or Coding Manager to review and address opportunity, as applicable.
Collaborate with Second Level Reviewers to identify opportunity trends and develop relevant training/education.
Conduct individual and large group educational sessions for all CDIS and/or providers.
Working closely with CDIS, identify areas of non-specific documentation and improve documentation and query templates in support of clinical treatment protocols.
Collaborate with CDI managers, director, and other clinicians to facilitate the ongoing relevance of department specific orientation content, educational materials, documentation tip sheets, and other training programs/resources.
Maintains a summary of opportunities identified for feedback and education with the CDS team and reviews with managers and director regularly.

Overview
Pediatric Cardiac Device and Electrophysiology Nurse will work with Electrophysiology providers, APRNS, RNs and other staff in managing the care of patients implanted with pacemakers, ICDs and loop recorders made by various manufacturers. This role will be responsible for coordinating care for inpatients and outpatients with cardiac arrhythmias and/or cardiac devices including interrogation of pacemakers, ICDs and loop recorders on inpatients and in clinic, reading remote transmissions sent by patients from home, and answering device-related and electrophysiology phone/nurse triage calls. Prior experience with device reprogramming and reading remotes is requested. High degree of autonomy needed and attention to detail is a must. Will work with multiple web-based applications specific to each manufacturer as well as our current EMR and device database.
Critical care registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require intensive care. Critical care registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for their assigned patients in the intensive care areas of the hospital. Children's Mercy Home Care is the only full-service pediatric home-health agency in the region. We utilize the services of highly trained registered nurses and therapists who assist patients and families with their medical needs as they transition to their home environment. Responsibilities

* Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
Qualifications
* Associate's Degree Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
* Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all direct care nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Direct care nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
* One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
* One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
* RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
* Employees must obtain Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas or equivalent within 90 days
* Employees must obtain Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri or equivalent within 90 days
* Employees must obtain Licensed RN - Kansas or equivalent within 90 days
* Employees must obtain Licensed RN - MO or equivalent within 90 days
* Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required 90 Days
* Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred 90 Days

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $29.00/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
