Mercy College company history timeline

1981

Always seeking ways to expand academic and career opportunities for its students, Mercy College was authorized to offer its first graduate program (in nursing) in 1981.

1987

The Detroit People Mover, a light-rail system serving the central business district, was completed in 1987.

1992

By the late twentieth century, Mercy Sister Patricia Ann Dalke, Director of the School of Nursing, recognized the need for a nursing degree program and Mercy College of Northwest Ohio was incorporated on September 18, 1992.

1994

The first Associate Degrees in Nursing were conferred on December 10, 1994.

2004

In 2004, Timothy L. Hall, the former president of Austin Peay State University, as well as the former provost of University of Mississippi, became the 12th president of Mercy College.

2006

Since then, over 30 diverse graduate programs have been introduced, and in 2006, the college was granted authorization to offer its first doctoral program in physical therapy.

2019

In March 2019, the agreement between the College of New Rochelle and Mercy College was finalized.

2022
