The Financial Resource Specialist will be the embodiment of the hospital's mission, vision and values and will liaison with the various clinic and hospital locations to ensure financial policies are being adhered to. The Financial Resource Specialist will greet patients or family members in the various clinic and hospital settings and assist them in answering any questions or concerns they may have regarding their insurance coverage, financial assistance, billing, or payment options. The Financial Resource Specialist will have knowledge of all aspects of the revenue department from the registration process through the collection, billing, coding, and denial process. Financial Resource Specialists have an extensive knowledge base of all community, state, or federal government programs to provide assistance to patients who have no or limited ability to pay for their health care. They are expected to have a comprehensive knowledge base of alternative financial resources to counsel and educate patients on all available financial resource options. They will assist patients and family members with the Presumptive Eligibility process and follow up with patients to ensure they have secured a financial resource in place to pay for their health care. Responsibilities Job Duties: * Interviews clients, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to evaluate condition of client. * Formulates program for prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of client. * Counsels clients individually and/or in group sessions to assist client with their mental health issues and/or in overcoming alcohol and drug dependence through monitoring the client (s) treatment success and adapting treatment as needed. * Counsels family members to assist family in dealing with and providing support for client. * Refers client to other support services, as needed, such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services. * Prepares/maintains current reports/records. Requirements: Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or other related field. Must possess all required certification and licensure per the state in which they will be practicing. Provides education to the appropriate level of understanding. * Acts to resolve systems breakdowns and engages self and others in providing solutions. * Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance. * Utilizes clinical expertise & guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care. * Utilizes critical thinking in regards to patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command. * Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit/department practice activities and decisions and peer review process * Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance. * Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited nursing program. ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE Licensed as an RN in state of practice Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
