    Full-time Description Mercy Home for Children a nonprofit agency providing comprehensive care to individuals with developmental disabilities, is hiring a Maintenance Worker to work in the residential programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties: · Maintain building and grounds in a safe, healthful, workable condition, including sweeping & mopping. · Regularly inspect facility to determine where repairs, extra cleaning etc. are needed. · Keep work area and supplies organized, presentable, and secure. · Repair windows, walls, doors, and locks as needed. · Replace light fixtures as needed. · Sweep, wash, vacuum floors daily in kitchen and dining room weekly; stairs, hallways, activity rooms or as needed; Wax floors as needed. · Empty baskets daily and put out garbage on appropriate days; Maintain garbage pails; Clean up rubbish area as needed; Sweeping and/or shoveling daily, depending upon weather conditions. · General interior painting. · Inspect and report on safety and maintenance of agency vehicles. · Check fire extinguisher/s, emergency lights, and generators regularly. · Maintain appropriate temperature in building(s). · Be responsible to handle emergency situations (make require off hours assistance) · Do emergency snow/ice removal and flood cleanup. · Assist residents when appropriate in the training of maintenance chores. · Other tasks, workshops and trainings related to the Agency and maintenance · Ensure environmental safety for the protection of the residents. · Other duties as assigned by Residential team. Requirements High School Diploma or a GED, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Valid & Unrestricted N.Y.S. Driver's License. Good verbal communication skills, highly motivated and have a positive attitude. This position is eligible for 1199 Union benefits after 30 days of employment & $100 sign-on bonus. Under the general direction of the Residential Manager, the Assistant Manager will collaborate with and assist the Residential Manager in the day-to-day operations of the facility. Work with family members, and complete all reporting requirements of Mercy Home and OPWDD. Represent the Agency by promoting and modeling the mission and core values of the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Home. Essential Functions: · Preparation and revision of staff work schedules to ensure adequate staffing for each shift, including AMAP, SCIP-R, Drivers as needed. · Conducting orientation of new staff to the house, routines, individuals, policies, and procedures, documenting the same. · Ongoing coaching and supervision of direct support staff to optimize the quality of services offered to individuals and retain qualified staff. · Conduct regular observations of interactions/activities between individuals and staff and provide feedback · Review the individual's documentation and communication logs and provide appropriate follow-up · Ensure adequate training compliance and orientation of all staff · Timely and accurate reporting of incidents, occurrences, and/or accidents · Planning, implementing, and evaluating recreation and leisure activities with staff and consumers · Establish and maintain a good rapport with families of individuals and day programs each attend · Evaluate the appropriateness of day services while ensuring continuity · Participate in interdisciplinary and clinical meetings, preparing reports as needed · Actively participate in agency training and assist in providing both residence and agency as requested · Participate in the hiring and screening process · Knowledge of and adherence to the 1199 Union contract as it applies to union staff · Perform duties of Direct Support Professional when needed for coverage · Complete other job-related duties as assigned by the program Requirements Education: College degree in Human Service, Healthcare Administration, Psychology, or related field preferred. Associate Degree is required. Certification/License: Valid and unrestricted New York State Driver's License is required Successful candidate will be required to complete a background check & provide current PPD test.
