José E. Almeida is a Brazilian businessman. He has served as the chairman and CEO of Baxter International, Inc. since January 2016. He worked for Tyco Healthcare from 1995 to 2002. He was president of Medical Devices division from October 2006 to June 2011. He served as chairman of the board of directors of Covidien since March 2012 and as the president, chief executive officer and a director since July 2011. In this position, Davis oversees a range of products used in the delivery of fluids and drugs to patients, and in the treatment of end-stage kidney disease. Davis took on his current role in October 2010. Prior to this role, Davis served as corporate vice president and president of Baxter's Renal business. He served as corporate vice president and chief financial officer from 2006 through May 2010, and as treasurer from 2004 through 2006. Davis joined Baxter as treasurer in November 2004 from Eli Lilly and Company, where he served in numerous positions of increasing responsibility over 14 years. Davis currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Rush University Medical Center and also serves as a member of the Finance Committee. He also is a member of the Board of Directors of AdvaMed.
