Job Summary
Michigan Dining Hosts welcome guests at dining hall entrances, swipe ID cards, verify guests' active meal plan status, accept payment for individual meal purchases and assist guests with basic questions about dining hall services. Michigan Dining Hosts bus tables and perform other tasks related to maintaining a clean environment. You will report to Dining Management Staff and work onsite.
This is a seasonal, 16 hour/week position: Work from the 3rd week in August through first week of May.

The Server supports the efforts of Amherst College Dining Services in providing the campus community with excellent service and production of our menus. This position assists the culinary team with producing and implementing menu items.
The Dining Services Server, knowing all ingredients, is committed to quality and excellent customer service. The Server works on the food lines and/or other service areas as assigned. Ensures all food items, proper serving utensils, and menu signage are ready for service; and cleans the line during and after service. This role engages with the community at each meal to build connections and a sense of belonging. Verifies that all foods served are done so at the highest quality to preserve both the integrity of the food and also the safety of the food being served.
The work schedule varies and corresponds to the College's operational needs. As our work is central to student life and their needs occur at various times throughout the day, week, and year and in such, a flexible schedule with extended shift times is required. Summary of Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily
Prep and serve meals
Open kitchen, pantry, and coolers logging temperatures of freezer/cooler(s)
Check labels for portion sizes and calculate for cooking amounts
Log temperatures for hot and cold items before and after service
Prep breakfast bin for the next day
Begin clean up when not serving (dishes)
Leftovers need to be clearly marked with the “to be used by date
Get all can goods out to be washed for lunch
Read labels for portion sizes and calculate for cooking amounts
Take out necessary items from freezer for next day or two
Fill out both meal production reports including time and temperatures
Clean up: dishes, trays, pots & pans, stoves, burners, ovens, steamer and general kitchen
Fill milk cooler, rotating milks
Wash and dry laundry
Follow applicable regulations and guidelines pertaining to food service safety.
Must obtain ServSafe certification
Weekly:
Deliveries need to be checked in and any discrepancies need to be reported within 24 hours with any issues documented on the invoice
Put orders away, date and rotate product
Upon milk delivery, check expiration dates and record on invoice temperature of milk.
Complete food order and food production prep
Keep storeroom, freezers and coolers in order
Maintain inventories
Turn in all invoices to the Director
Log hours on timesheet and submit to Finance Director
Yearly/Ongoing
Knowledgeable in HAACP, Federal Meal Pattern guidelines, and state regulations pertaining to food service.
Must understand and follow Offer vs. Serve.
Maintain certifications: Civil Rights, Food Manager
Complete the end of the year inventory properly within a week of school ending

Position Summary:
The Beverage Cocktail Server is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests by delivering a welcoming and engaging experience. This role involves taking drink orders, serving beverages and light food items, and ensuring that guests have a memorable visit. This role is key in delivering exceptional guest experiences while sharing responsibility for hospitality operations campus-wide across multiple locations and contributing to the Museum's mission. Your work will help create memorable moments for every guest.
Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Guest Service: Provide prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable service to guests, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Order Taking & Delivery: Accurately take drink and food orders, relay them to the bar or kitchen, and deliver them efficiently to guests. Opening, pouring, wine, beer, and spirits.
Product Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the beverage menu, including cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic offerings, to provide recommendations and answer guest inquiries.
Cleanliness & Maintenance: Regularly clean tables, serving areas, and surrounding spaces to maintain a tidy and welcoming environment for guests. Ensure all service stations are organized and stocked.
Furniture Arrangement: Assist in moving and arranging furniture to accommodate guest needs, including setting up and breaking down areas for special events or changes in guest volume.
Compliance: Follow all safety, health, and alcohol service regulations, including verifying guest age and practicing responsible alcohol service.
Sales & Upselling: Proactively suggest food and beverage pairings and promote special offerings to enhance guest experiences and maximize sales.
Payment Processing: Accurately handle guest payments, including cash and card transactions, and reconcile receipts at the end of each shift.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with bartenders, kitchen staff, and other team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
Complete all assigned opening and closing duties as required

Work Experience:
