GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor, the Part-time Custodian will be responsible for the day to-day housekeeping of the buildings, heavy cleaning when needed, meetings, special events and classroom setups.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily cleaning and maintenance of all restrooms in the building
Cleaning and maintaining floors on a daily basis
Cleaning of Classrooms and offices
Emptying and disposing of trash on a daily basis
Washing windows as needed
Changing light bulbs and tubes as needed
Assisting other staff members as time and schedule permits
Assisting with the loading and unloading of trucks when necessary
Informing Custodial Supervisor of any unsafe or broken building hardware or exhibit components
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED
Knowledge and ability to properly perform the duties listed above.
Ability to interact with the public in a pleasant manner while performing job related duties.
Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures and safety issues in cleaning human fluids and other hazardous materials.
Knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, and safety procedures for using them.
Ability to understand the importance of collections and artifacts: will not clean and or move any artifact or enter collection spaces without the consent of the Curator of Collections or their staff.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to remain on feet for prolonged periods of time.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school graduate preferred.
Experience as a custodian in the commercial cleaning field is preferred.

Position Summary
The Custodian performs all custodial work throughout the building to keep the Santander Arena & Performing Arts Center in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. They're responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of the facility, ensuring that all areas meet established cleanliness and sanitation standards.
This role pays an hourly rate of $16.75

Responsibilities
* Arrive for each scheduled shift on time, in uniform and ready to work
* Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom sanitation
* Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and high-touch surfaces regularly
* Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners
* Refill paper products, soap dispensers, and other supplies as needed
* Maintain floors through stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning as needed
* Monitor and report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety concerns to the supervisor
* Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment as required
* Assist with outdoor sweeping or seasonal upkeep when applicable
* Works safely, quickly and efficiently to meet all deadlines
* Maintains a positive, outgoing demeanor and acknowledges guests in a friendly manner
* All other tasks assigned by Custodial Team Lead
Qualifications
* Ability to work flexible hours including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays
* High school diploma or GED preferred
* Prior custodial or janitorial experience is a plus, but not required
* Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form
* Work independently, exercise good judgment and initiative
* Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, stooping, lifting and walking.
* Physical demands of prolonged repetitive motions normally associated with mopping, sweeping, buffing, dusting, and climbing
* Ability to work inside or outside environments
* Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur

Monitoring and adjusting building automation controls;
Securing the facility; arming and disarming the security system; and

Maintaining building grounds including, but not limited to, watering, mowing, trimming, pruning shrubs, trees, weeding, removing paper and debris from school yard and along fence lines.
Performing snow removal and keeping sidewalks free of ice
Taking charge of all aspects of the physical operation of the building for which they are responsible.
Reporting to the Assistant Coordinator, Maintenance Services (or their designee) any breakdown of equipment that is not functioning as designed.
Maintaining and submitting all appropriate reports and logs in a timely manner.

Operating and maintaining boiler: Checking boiler to ensure appropriate operation.

Summary:
The Laundry Attendant maintains a clean and healthy environment within the JCC. Duties include laundry, controlling stock and inventory, seeing to general cleanliness, making coffee, and more while maintaining customer service and hospitality to our members.
Essential Functions:
Provide outstanding customer service to our customers in all interactions.
Sort, fold, and wash laundry.
Collect and deliver laundry from/to various points within our facility.
Safely operate necessary equipment to perform job tasks (clothes washer, clothes dryer, elevator, etc.).
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout work area.
Transport items throughout the J as needed. (i.e., meals, packages, mail, etc.)
Assist other Building and Grounds team members in maintaining a clean and organized facility.
Help with general cleanliness tasks as necessary, such as restocking paper towels, wiping down the counters, picking up used towels, cleaning unexpected spills, etc.
Perform inventory as necessary.
