Merrick & Company is seeking a full time Senior Electrical Engineer for our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing department to join our team in our Greenwood Village, CO; Tulsa, OK; Baltimore, MD; Chattanooga, TN; Newport News, VA or Richmond, VA offices. This business unit supports several market sectors including but not limited to industrial food & beverage, refining, power, and advanced biofuels markets. This full-Time position will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule and relocation will be considered.
Typical annual pay range for this position is $122,000.00 - $160,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
* May serve as project lead on a major project and/or several projects opf moderate scope with complex features.
* Develop electrical design documents and drawings.
* Analyze and approve the work of others. Monitor the work performed by the team.
* Conceptual and detailed design of low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMI's process equipment and instrumentation.
* Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.
* Lead project meetings and make presentations.
* Perform typical electrical calculations including but not limited to voltage drop, short circuit, coordination studies, arch flash, relay settings, conduit fill, lighting, and grounding.
* Develop specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs.
* Travel to client project sites to support field walk downs and as-built efforts.
* Monitor allocated resources to ensure that the work performed is within project estimates.
* Works with Design/Engineering Managers to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents are provided for each project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of twelve (12) years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in power, energy, oil and gas or other industrial process industries.
* Experience developingone-line drawings, control schematics and wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications, power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, etc.
* Working knowledge of technical Codes and Standards: NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc.
* Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
* Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT or other design software.
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited college is required.
* PE License required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This position is posted for the Salt Lake City, Utah office with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (please note in the application questions where you prefer to be located).
**Roles and Responsibilities**
The successful candidate will be responsible for successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships. Completion of these functions requires technical competence in primary production roles as well as leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring and supervising team members assigned to projects. Assigned projects will include SCADA, automation, and communications for utility and industrial/commercial clients throughout the United States. Systems to be analyzed will include conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission and distribution systems. Technical disciplines may include the following areas:
+ Networking and Communications: design and configure network and communication paths for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Human Machine Interface (HMIs), PLC's and other SCADA system equipment inside the substation or facility as well as paths to the data off-takers; specify and design communication networks including data security and availability; develop basic specifications for fiber optic, microwave, power line carrier, or radio communication paths; travel to project sites to troubleshoot and commission network and communication systems.
+ Applicable network and communication protocols: DNP, Modbus, SEL Communication Protocol, GOOSE Messaging, IEC 61850, TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, as well as legacy utility protocols.
+ Logic and Control Systems: develop, document, and implement logic and control schemes for remote and local operation of power system equipment (Remedial Action Schemes, Distribution Automation/FLISR, PV Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Microgrid, Renewable Curtailment, Volt/Var Control, Load Shedding, Anti-Islanding, and other custom logic); develop programs on various platforms for implementation of these schemes; travel to project sites to test and commission the control schemes.
+ Applicable Logic and Control Platforms: SEL RTAC, NovaTech, Cooper SMP, GE-D20, PLCs, IEC 61131, Lua, Python.
+ Data Acquisition: Prepare points lists of all data to be transferred between control centers and controlled apparatus, assign and program data addressing and routing information, develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens, travel to project sites to test and commission data transfer schemes.
+ Applicable Software: Wonderware, Clearview, AcSELerator RTAC, NovaTech NCD/Inkscape, Visual Basic, OSIPI, Python scripting etc.
