About Boatswains Mates (BMs), the oldest rate in the Navy, have a rich history of honored traditions. BMs are the leaders and backbone of every ships crew. They maintain the exterior surfaces of ships, deck handling machinery, and equipment, handle cargo, and operate small boats during various evolutions, including Anti-Terrorism Operations and Maritime Interdiction boardings of suspect ships. Makes rounds of the assigned unit frequently during the shift providing intervention as needed. During the entire shift, will be attune to the needs of the unit while doing other nursing tasks. 6. Prepares and administers medications as ordered. Reorders medications as needed in preparation for future shifts. Assesses and documents medication issues as per policy. 7. Provides special procedures as ordered. 8. Supervises the meal service for each resident on the unit. Works with the staff to assure each resident is provided adequate nutrition for each meal. 9. Continually assesses and reassesses residents for risk of complications as a result of being in the facility. (i.e., skin breakdown, incontinence, contractures, reduced mobility, reduced involvement in bathing, dressing, or eating, weight loss, behaviors due to change in lifestyle, etc.) 10. Continually observes progress and quality of work of the Nursing Assistants to assure that residents are turned, repositioned, toileted, walked, exercised, provided food and fluids, well groomed, involved in their specific restorative program, provides intervention as indicated, etc. Also observes the resident's environment to assure a clean and safe environment is provided for each resident. 11. Document on nurse's notes as per policy. Assures there is accurate and timely documentation of any unusual observation, incident, or happening. 12. Admits residents as required. 13. Assists in the ordering and reviewing of results of laboratory tests as indicated. Notifies physician of results. 14. Notifies the physician of unusual findings as indicated. 15. Assists with auditing charts. 16. Assists with answering and correcting consultant reports. 17. Reviews, signs and provides intervention as indicated for Nursing Assistants documentation. 18. Counts required medications with on coming and off going shif t s. 19. Makes appropriate notes in the 24 hour report to assure adequate communication is maintained for nursing. 20. Assists in keeping other departments informed of resident's change of condition as indicated. 21. Assists in providing in-services for assigned staff. 22. Reviews and updates Medication Administration Record, Treatment Administration Record, and Nursing Care Flow Records for the upcoming month. 24. Makes rounds toward end of shift to assure area is in order for the oncoming shift. 25. Gives report to oncoming shift. 26. Reviews and assures there is adequate staffing for the oncoming shift. Job DescriptionSalary: The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Mental Health Technician (MHT) is a member of the nursing staff who facilitates quality patient care. The CNA or MHT supports the licensed nursing staff to ensure the needs of the patients are met by performing routinely assigned tasks and carrying out patient care activities within the scope of the CNAs or MHT's training and experience. The CNA or MHT provides direct patient care to assigned patients, ensuring that patients' activities of daily living are performed. They are primarily responsible for the day-to-day custodial care of the patients. The CNA or MHT assists with providing a therapeutic, safe environment for the patients. The CNA or MHT utilizes basic knowledge of nursing skills and communicates the medical and emotional needs of the patients to the licensed nursing staff.
