We are currently seeking an experienced self-starter and goal-oriented candidate to fill the role of Safety Coordinator for our Raleigh region. This position is part of the Messer Environmental, Health and Safety Department, and supports the Messer projects and personnel with safety inspections, project planning, employee training, and other safety and health services. This individual reports directly to the EHS Executive and Regional Leaders. Other areas of focus would include engaging in out-reach programs within our community that support our goal to be inclusive and our desire to improve the communities in which we live and work.
What You Will Do:
* Champion Zero Injury Culture
* Understand project schedule for risk planning.
* Ensure effective understanding, communication and consistent reinforcement of department objectives.
* Develop & Manage relationships at all levels including projects/craft, regional leadership, safety peers and corporate.
* Ensure to develop and cultivate relationships external to Messer, including subcontractors, regulatory entities, medical service providers and other appropriate vendors.
* Develop Action Plans for Regional Safety Performance
* Participate and provide guidance in Regional Safety Committees - Engage safety teams in project assistance.
* Consistent presence on projects - Timely response to projects questions or issues
* Active participation in department calls, BMP, Corrective actions, MOC
* Participate in the Regional Best Practice Meeting, Huddles, POD, WWP, etc.
* Ensure consistent communications and timely delivery on internal projects & tasks.
* Work with Project Management teams on job site safety planning, including but not limited to the following:
* Pre-construction safety meetings; contractor safety orientations; weekly site safety inspections and accident/incident investigations.
* Development and implementation of a variety of safety programs and training.
* Provide safety knowledge to ensure consistency in safety policies and procedures throughout all regions/projects to the region and other safety professionals.
* Managing environmental issues. Conduct/Coordinate IH Monitoring for silica, noise, asbestos, lead, mold, etc.
* Coordinate OSHA Consultations/Partnerships and Insurance Loss Control Visits. Act as company representative for these visits.
* Assist Messer personnel in the development, revision and implementation of new or updated policies, procedures or task specific work instructions.
* Ensure proper risk assessment has been completed, risks defined and communicated to decision makers.
* Ensure emergency response systems, policies and procedures are in place to manage emergency situations.
* Communicate effectively with representatives of regulatory agencies/customers to resolve compliance issues and provide requested information.
* Provide data analysis & reports, regulatory interpretations & guidance on all safety and health policies and programs of critical importance to overall corporate objectives, operations, and profitability.
* Partner with the project staff to interpret, evaluate, and provide technical guidance on project safety requirements, accident investigation, and implementing corrective action measures.

The Role We Want You For

The Specifics of the Role
Responsible for the organization and direction of all on-site construction related activities and the primary contact for all project field activities.
Ensure construction operations are in compliance with design, specifications, and that construction operations are completed on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
Responsible for site management including management of construction subcontractors, professional staff to include field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting services, and workforce services. Responsible for managing and maintaining detailed daily reports.
Ensures the development and execution of project automation plan, environmental compliance plan, safety plan, site survey plan, non-manual staffing plan, subcontracting plan, labor strategy, construction execution plan, and job-site work rules.
Responsible for implementation of Clayco's safety program, security, housekeeping, and fire protection on the construction site and ensures strict adherence Federal and State safety codes.
Ensures the field organization is composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel and ensures effective personnel utilization.
Establishes and implements construction schedules, methods, manning charts, material, and equipment requirements.
Responsible for field project performance and analyzes performances for adherence to quality standards and schedules.
Plans and establishes procedures to ensure all construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
Ensures Clayco's policies and procedures are fully implemented.
Establishes project field procedures to be worked in conjunction with the Clayco's standards, as necessitated by project conditions.
Collaborates with the jobsite team to ensure labor harmony throughout the project.
Partners with the project management team to maintain effective client relationship and is the primary contact for client's communication with the field activities.
Maintains effective relationships with other functional departments.
Develops, implements, and administers a job-site security plan and coordinates the activities with Clayco's security department.
Works with the project management team to participate in all job-site's contractual activities. Participates in contracts and subcontracts negotiations.
Participates in the development and implementation of a training program to ensure subordinate personnel receives progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities and is responsible for overall development of construction training and any testing as required.
Works with Clayco's safety team in the development of the project safety program and ensures strict adherence to Company, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Ensures the implementation of an effective community relations plan for the site.
Ensures required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the affected work at site.
Responsible and accountable for construction license reporting to include construction Logbook entries and required notifications for permit closure.
Partners with the project management team for the implementation of cost savings methodologies in the Construction organization and the promotion of other continuous improvement processes.
Ensures development and execution of strategies and plans for project automation, environmental compliance, safety, site surveying, non-manual staffing, contracting, labor strategy, construction execution, and job-site work rules.
Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
Coordinate with the Field Operations Manager for all assignment of Superintendent and Foreman positions.
Support Superintendent(s) throughout the duration of the job.
Review project schedules with Superintendents/Foreman.
Document project field issues that impact budget, quality, or schedule, and provide to the project management team.
Ensure subcontractor requests for field issues that impact budget, quality, or schedule are documented and are forwarded to the project management team.
Follow guidelines of the Project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program written for the job site.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related technical degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
20-25 years of relevant experience, with progressive responsibility and technical knowledge both scope and value of project.
Technical knowledge and experience of relevant construction methods and systems including:
Utility relocates and slope stability works.
Full understanding of multiple mission critical platforms.
Full understanding and working knowledge of high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage systems. General understanding of BMS and EPMS Systems.
Full understanding and coordination of Utility relocations, underground medium voltage systems, and BIM modeling coordination of ALL utilities both above and below ground.
Full understanding and managing of all LOTO procedure's and FOD inspections for all systems.
Ability to research and understand local codes and jurisdictional requirements for the project.
Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
Experience with successful interface management on Data Center/Mission Critical projects.
OSHA 30 required.
Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding.
Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs.

* Evaluate existing and proposed permanent structures for temporary loads and conditions including pump trucks, cranes, lifts and other equipment on structures.
* Prepare and seal appropriate analysis, calculations, details, plans, drawings, quantities, specifications, and reports as required to fulfill the responsibilities and duties above.
* Perform quality control reviews of the plans, calculations, and other documentation prepared by other engineers employed by Brasfield & Gorrie or by external consultant engineers.
* Develop staff work plans and provide daily supervision of staff.

* Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field
* 12+ years of engineering & design experience
* Ability to obtain and maintain Professional Engineering Licensure within 6 months of hire

* Expertise in the analysis and design of multi-story reinforced concrete and/or structural steel frames. Experience with reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, HSS, cold formed steel, timber, masonry, and foundation analysis and design is desired.

* Performs advanced placement and finishing of concrete flatwork
* Identifies and understands construction details as it relates to concrete carpentry
* Finish Carpentry Specialty:
* Quality installation of casework and countertops
* Quality installation all types of running trim and wood paneling
* Quality installation of doors, hardware and accessories
* Identifies, understands, and applies construction details as it relates to finish carpentry
* Leads by example, providing proper guidance and instruction to team.
* Teaches and trains the team to perform scope of work to the highest quality standard.
* Demonstrates excellent expertise within concrete and/or finished carpentry.
* Reads and understands project plans within applicable scope of work.
* Responsible for completing JE Dunn reports and pre-task planning.
* Responsible for material forecasting for specific task.
* Coordinates and implements safety procedures for tasks.
* Coordinates with foreman on upcoming work and durations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
* Effective Communication skills, verbal and written
* Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work
* Knowledge of all carpentry hand tools, use and own all required hand tools and pouches
* Knowledge of all concrete tools and how they work
* Basic understanding of principles of layout and construction math
* Knowledge of setting forms for concrete (Foundations / SOG / Bulkheads)
* Ability to complete assigned duties with minimal guidance
* Ability to provide excellent customer service
* Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally
Education
* High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
* Apprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred)
* In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
* 5+ years experience in specific trade (Required)
* 5+ years commercial construction experience (Preferred)
Working Environment
* Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds
* May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
* Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs
* Must have reliable transportation
* May require use of respirator
* Must be comfortable working at projected heights, narrow workspaces, various depths (trenches)
* Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Kneeling, Carrying, Swinging, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Balancing
* Occasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen

Responsibilities Brasfield & Gorrie is searching for a Superintendent in Raleigh. A successful candidate should ideally have commercial construction experience and be open to travel for projects. * Advocates safety as number one priority on the jobsite and enforces compliance with company and jobsite safety plan and policies and all safety-related regulations
* Partners with Estimating, Division Management and Project Management to supervise, direct, and coordinate management of construction projects, including direct liaison with owner, designers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient and orderly performance of the job
* Develops and implements detailed schedules and production plans with budget and safety goals in mind
* Assists Project Manager in the preparation of project status reports
* Responsible for daily reports, progress reports, compliance reports and logs
* Oversees the review of plans and drawings in accordance with contract documents and the coordination of shop drawings
* Procures tools and materials needed for the project to ensure availability according to the work schedule
* Determines staffing levels and timing considering building methodology as well as the availability of tools and equipment for each phase of the construction project

* Follows and enforces company policies and procedures
* Coordinates and oversees regulatory inspection
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
* 5+ years of experience in commercial construction
* Experience as lead superintendent on at least one project
* Experience on projects up to $80M preferred
* Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
* Must have a valid driver's license
Physical Requirements:
* Able to work significant portion of day outside on construction site
* Must be able to stand for long periods and work at heights
* Must be able to work in all types of weather (including exposure to extremes of hot and cold) and in all kinds of work environments
