LOCATION
Rochester, Scottsville Rd.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
OVERTIME Saturdays
as needed
COMPENSATION
Commensurate with experience & skill-set
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Metal Inspector / Greeter position is to greet each peddler as he/she comes off the scale, assign correct commodity codes for the material being brought in, and direct the peddler to the appropriate drop-off location(s).


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greet the Peddler with courtesy.
  • Excellent customer service experience.
  • Inspect scrap load in order to identify prohibited items, assign correct commodity codes, and assign deductions according to best practice.
  • Inspect customer materials for liquids, non-metallic, and other non-acceptable materials. (ie. Propane tanks, PCBs, and batteries)
  • Identity and record inspection data to include the weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap metal.
  • Ensure customers are dropping the correct material incorrect designated areas.
  • Direct peddler to drop-off location(s).
  • Communicate via 2-way radio with Weigh Master and yard personnel.
  • Direct peddler through outbound scale, and instruct on payout procedure.
  • Physically assist customers with the unloading of their material.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in scrap metal recycling preferable.
  • Experience in general labor in heavy manufacturing environments
  • People skills, strong belief in customer service, team player.
  • Work out in the elements throughout the year, able to lift 60 pounds.
  • Highly active work environment which requires being on your feet all day.
