This position is responsible for grinding and polishing equipment to correct defects and prepare surfaces for finishing. Polishers work with shop machinery and basic hand tools, as well as build documents and drawings, to grind or polish products according to customer specifications. Polishers must have a strong attention to detail to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met. We primarily work with stainless steel. FUNCTION: To ensure that parts are finished and conforming to specifications through cleaning, deburring, polishing or grinding using hand tools and /or a tumbler deburr unit. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Scrapes or rubs part with a file, a wire brush or a buffing cloth. Loads and unloads a tumbler deburr unit. Deburrs or polishes parts. Cleans interior surfaces of holes. Changes tools on powered equipment. Applies abrasive compound, wax or other dressing to facilitate cleaning or polishing operation. Uses a flex-arm tap devise as well as hand tap holes when required. DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION High school diploma or GED required. Ability to drive a forklift. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/SKILL Experience in finishing, deburring, polishing or a similar trade. Able to read blueprints and travelers. Grinder (Entry Level) Shift: Nights - 10pm - 10am Location: Walton Hills Rate: $16-18 per hour depending on experience (+ .75 shift diff for 3rd) + bonus every 6 months Responsibilities include but not limited to: Separate/sort plastic sheets Box, label and weigh inventory Follow grinding schedule Load material into grinder and grind into pellet form to be used for reprocessing into sheet form Tear down/break down/clean grinding machine Stage material for upcoming jobs Previous extrusion experience and knowledge of plastic sheet extrusion process a plus. Regular and punctual attendance Training will include other duties on the production floor to help understand all positions and processes.
