METAL STAMPING TECH 2

1st SHIFT

Check-Mate Manufacturing has openings position for Metal Stamping Tech 2. This position is responsible for all aspects of producing metal parts to ensure that customer specifications are met and a high standard of quality is achieved. The Technician 2 must operate, set-up and troubleshoot the secondary presses (45, 60 and 80 Ton – herein referred to as secondary) and inspect parts. Works with Engineering, Maintenance, Tooling and other team members to receives proper engineer and maintenance support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Includes, but may not be limited to the following

• Metal Stamping Tech 2 operates (setup a plus) part in part out, inspection and pack-out of the 45, 60 and 80 Ton metal stamping machine herein called the “secondary presses”.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 operates and troubleshoots the secondary presses observing OSHA Safety and Health Standards.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 works with maintenance to understand proper lock-out/tag-out, E-Stop and other safety features of the robotic or manual sander.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 works with maintenance on the maintenance for the machine and PM’s (Preventative Maintenance).
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 works with engineering, maintenance or supervision on set-up, faults and down-time issues.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 understands and demonstrates the function and operation of the main operation panels, operation button box, optional switches and key switches on the equipment.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 works with or observes how the tool & die-makers makes changes and adjustments to the dies to understand die issues when parts are produced.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 operates the auxiliary equipment and understands the differences between the presses.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 exercises technical knowledge to troubleshoot the secondary presses by understanding machine faults, operation modes, guards, and machine procedure when work is completed.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 applies machine knowledge using the common operation, display screens, set up and data screens.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 sets up the operator interface terminal by working with Engineering, Maintenance or Supervision to produce parts.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 understands machine components and their functionality on the secondary presses.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 works with maintenance on lubrication, PMs and troubleshooting the presses.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 performs visual Inspection of magazine tubes for defects (dents, dings, discolorations) and cosmetic issues.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 utilizes Micrometers and calipers, if necessary, to ensure that manufactured parts are meeting quality standards and customer specifications.
• Metal Stamping Tech 2 performs 6S to ensure that area is clean and organized.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• H.S. diploma or GED
• 3-5 years of manufacturing/inspection experience
• Basic problem-solving and organizational skills
• Must be detailed oriented and strong basic mathematical knowledge
• Strong interpersonal and team skills
• Written and verbal communication skills in English (Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus)
• Able to multi-task
• Able to read and following instructions outlined in production documents
• Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities: The Operator reports directly to the Production Supervisor. The role is an exciting opportunity to join a global, dynamic, Hi-Tech team, supporting the medical and aerospace industries. We are the industry leader in development and manufacturer of ceramic to metal seals for both Aerospace and Medical markets. We help improve the quality of life with our implantable medical components, and we ensure the safety of travelers by developing multiple components for the Aerospace industry.

Essential Functions:

* Perform various tasks as assigned by Department Supervisor.
* Maintain quality and quantity with strong sense of accountability and standards.
* Perform detailed assembly operations using microscopes, tweezers, micrometers, or dial indicators.
* Perform one or more repetitive bench operations.
* Completes all relevant documentation.
* Maintains material inspection records
* Cleans and maintains equipment & work area.
* Microscope use is required.
* Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations and with Morgan New Bedford, MA EHS Guidelines. Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE. Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.
* Performs training/cross-training as required.

* Electrical Testing
* Visual Inspection

Metalizing

Operator

* Perform basic metalizing task, such as screen printing, hand-painting, injecting, scribing, roller-coating, dabbing, dip & spray, etc.
* Applies various metallizing inks and/or liquid resin to parts using hand-held paint brushes to a wide range of parts, with the aid of a microscope at times.
* Precision coats within scribed lines.
* Mounts parts in chuck of power-drive spindle and operates to apply uniform coating with various inks.
* Makes small adjustments to ink viscosity.
* Operates electric centrifuge machine and adjusts RPM and time cycle of same.
* Dries painted ceramic parts using portable electric dryers, heat lamps and transite ovens and prepares parts for next operation.
* Inspects painted and unpainted parts visually and mechanically using microscopes, gauges, scales and micrometers.
* Responsible for following proper metalizing application on ceramics. Monitor changes that would affect proper metalizing coverage.
* Works with Engineers to develop methods for prototype parts.
* Must work in a clean room environment.
