Our lore states the shop “bronzed babies' booties and re-silvered rich ladies' teapots.” That operation eventually moved to Birmingham, Alabama where “there were more babies and rich ladies.” In response to customer requests and local need, Metalplate began hot-dip galvanizing in Birmingham in 1949.
Metalplate's next expansion was in Jacksonville, Florida, where a small galvanizing plant was purchased in 1980.
While the Atlanta Plant continues to operate as efficiently and effectively as any modern galvanizing operation, Metalplate replaced the small Jacksonville facility with a grassroots galvanizing plant in 1986.
Metalplate added the Houston East Plant in 1999, specializing in small and medium steel structures.
