Your Job Requirements: • High School Diploma or Equivalent required • Registered technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or Pharmacy student current Pharmacy Intern License • 1 year of Pharmacy experience required • Hospital Pharmacy experiences preferred • Computer skills preferred, but not required • Ability to maintain confidentially and patient privacy standards set by the department as well as hospital Your Job Responsibilities - Performs medication reconciliation by interviewing patients/caregivers - Works with pharmacists to obtain complete medication lists - Performs duties listed below as needed • Answers the telephone and front window. • Compounds products in IV Lab using sterile, aseptic technique • Gathers items needed for miscellaneous requisitions, orders, crash carts, etc. to be checked by pharmacist prior to dispensing. • Maintains clean and orderly work area; restocks returned medications, restocks work area to appropriate levels. • Assists in maintaining inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies by notifying purchasing when items become low or increased usage of particular items in observed: utilized the “short list”. • Maintains drug storage systems through restock and trouble-shooting functions • Maintains Unit Inspections outside the department • Makes scheduled rounds to all nursing units for the delivery of medications and the pick-up of discontinued medications and orders as needed. • Makes non-scheduled rounds to any nursing unit as required. • Perform charges and credits for floor stock sheets, narcotic sheets, miscellaneous charge slips, and returned medications into computer system. • Processes medications in assigned area (OR, IV lab, first fill) in preparation of final dispensing by the pharmacist. • Trains new employees as assigned. • Other duties as assigned Methodist Richardson Medical Center is a 443-bed, full-service, acute care hospital that serves Richardson, Garland, Plano, and surrounding areas in Dallas and Collin counties. Here's What You Need * High School Diploma or Equivalent required * RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire required * 6 months' experience in a Texas Health hospital pharmacy required * 2 years of previous Retail Pharmacy experience, previous prior authorization processing and prescription benefit billing experience highly preferred. * Sterile IV Certification highly preferred * Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra. * The ability to work alone and as part of a team. * Candidate will need to be self-motivated, a team player, an effective and timely communicator and have the ability to be proactive in their duties. * Candidate must be able to prioritize due to urgent & time sensitive tasks. * Candidate will complete prescription data entry & filling process along with selling the prescription through point of sale and arranging delivery/shipping to patient. * Candidates must have good phone etiquette. * This position requires the ability to perform essential duties such as lifting, standing, walking and moving equipment for the duration of the shift. What You Will Do Tasks specific to Tech II: * Functionality requiring additional competency above Tech I, may require less supervision than a Tech I * Autonomous responsibility either with record keeping or as a single point of contact outside the department * Advanced technology expertise and ownership * Delegated functions of pharmacy leadership (manager or lead technicians) * Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location. * Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards, programs and initiatives. 10% * Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time. * Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
