Specialty Technicians: Serves as a liaison between physician clinic staff, specialty pharmacy, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain a strong and collaborative partnership between the businesses. Identifies opportunities for the Stormont Vail Specialty Pharmacy to partner with prescribers in the development of new initiatives and avenues of service. Complies with HIPAA/HITECH regulations.
Specialty Technicians: Ensures accuracy of prescription and patient data entered into various systems; verifying patient, drug, quantities, directions, days' supply, supplies, insurance, and physician data. Reviews all pertinent medical documentation from physician offices and other healthcare facilities, and clarifies prescription orders with pharmacist and/or clinician as appropriate. Job Summary: The Certified Pharmacy Tech PRN assist the pharmacist(s) in storing, preparing, distributing, reconciling, and charging of all medications to the appropriate nursing areas serviced by the pharmacy. The Technician works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist and will only perform activities that are in compliance with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
* Accurately and efficiently prepares and labels medications. Always obtains a final check from the pharmacist before dispensing/delivering a medication or releasing any compounded parenteral medication.
* Accurately prepares I.V.'s, utilizing aseptic technique, under the supervision of a pharmacist, in accordance with USP Guidelines and Texas State Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations.
* Makes timely rounds and accurately and safely transports medications and other pharmacy supplies to assigned areas. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
* Enters patient and departmental charging information into the computer system.
* Assists in maintaining unit dose readiness of bulk products. Verifies all barcodes scan accurately.
* Replenishes stock in the automated dispensing system, crash cart trays, and specialty medication boxes accurately and timely.
* Monitors and ensures adequate inventory is maintained in all areas. Notifies the inventory control technicians of products that need to be reordered. Manages drug supplies in a cost-effective manner and identifies opportunities to minimize waste.
* Performs and documents quality control activities, including monthly medication storage area inspections, and completes information on all required log sheets.
* Performs daily ADS routines (outdates, discrepancy resolution, loading/unloading, etc.) and troubleshoots all ADS issues (cubie/drawer failures, temperatures out of range, interface issues, etc.)
* Ensures medication management processes meets all legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* 1 plus years of relevant work experience.
* Current licensure with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
* National certification recognized by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Preferred Qualifications:
* High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
* Graduate from a pharmacy technology program.
* 4 plus years of pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.
* National I.V. Certification accredited by the National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA).
