    Your Job: The Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) maintains, tests, and calibrates advanced diagnostic and Therapeutic Medical Equipment Systems, as assigned, to insure safe and proper operation. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on advanced medical equipment according to the departmental guidelines established in the Methodist Health System Policies & Procedures, as well as Federal, State, and Industry recognized standards. The BMET II documents all maintenance activities and seeks assistance of Senior Biomedical Equipment Technicians as needed on more complex issues. Your Job Requirements: • Associates Degree (Military Training or equivalent work experience) in one of the following disciplines. • 4 years experience working as a BMET 1 is required. • Must be able to use all electronic hand tools and test equipment. • Biomedical Equipment Technology or related field in order to provide supportive and technical expertise to customers. • Must be able to work night shift or overtime if required. Your Job Responsibilities: • Performs comprehensive scheduled maintenance and calibration procedures on assigned, advanced medical equipment per manufacturer's specifications, State and Federal Guidelines. • Provides quality technical assistance to customers on advanced medical equipment. • Perform safety testing on all medical equipment annually and after each repair or scheduled maintenance check. • Practices and adheres to all current safety regulations and policies regarding servicing of diagnostic/ therapeutic medical equipment and all other safety practices. • Identifies any safety related issues and instructs fellow technicians and operators on corrective measures. • Performs unscheduled repairs, in a timely manner, on all medical devices assigned to his or her area of responsibility in accordance with manufacture's guidelines. • Performs customer follow-up after each repair is completed. • Provides safety and operator training on advanced medical equipment to hospital STAFFs needed. • Performs administrative duties as assigned in his or her area of responsibility to include: completion of all paperwork associated with safety testing, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance within two working days of work completion. • Perform other job duties as assigned. Job Summary The Levi Laboratory is located in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern and lead by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Benjamin Levi. The lab mission is to improve the lives of people living with skin and musculoskeletal diseases through rigorous science and compassion. The lab consists of 2000 square feet state-of-the-art laboratory space equipped with equipment to facilitate experiments and research with tissue cultures, small animal surgeries, and molecular biology. All lab members receive leadership training and coaching from Dr. Levi and other senior level lab personnel. Besides working hard, the Levi Lab will step away from the bench to give back to the community. The Levi Laboratory is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician II to join our collaborative team for a minimum two-year commitment. Our research focuses on musculoskeletal injury, repair, and regeneration. The successful candidate will contribute to a variety of ongoing projects and gain hands-on experience in both in vivo and in vitro models. Responsibilities will include animal handling, genotyping, surgical assistance in animal models, histological processing, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy. Prior experience in a molecular biology laboratory is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities and Laboratory Expectations Perform animal breeding, genotyping, handling, and surgical procedures. Conduct molecular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, RNA/DNA extraction, cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and next-generation sequencing. Assist with advanced analytical methods such as flow cytometry and potentially mass spectrometry. Execute the full histology pipeline: tissue harvesting, embedding, sectioning, staining, and imaging via confocal microscopy. Maintain accurate, detailed records and ensure a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace. Analyze and interpret data using appropriate software and statistical tools. Collaborate closely with the PI and project leads; demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills. Foster a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented laboratory culture. Engage in scientific communication, including weekly lab meetings, writing/reading groups, and contributing to manuscripts and presentations for conferences. Ensure radiation safety by adhering to established practices that are as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) and safety standards for patients and staff. * Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and applicability to interventional procedures. Screen patients for contrast allergies, contraindications, and appropriateness that would prohibit or modify the exam. Communicate with physicians to discuss stat/urgent findings. * Interview the patient (two patient identifiers), obtaining pertinent medical history pertaining to the procedure‿s clinical criteria. Apply technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures, adhering to age-specific guidelines safely. * Advocate effectively for patients and families by addressing concerns promptly, escalating complaints to the manager or designated representative, and using the chain of command to resolve issues. * Ensure images and information are appropriately documented with patient identification data and appropriate labeling. * Complete all documentation requirements after procedures, including electronic health record (EHR) updates, hemodynamics, accurate supply scanning, and charge documentation. Ensure proper archiving of images to MIMPS medical image management processing systems (previously called PACS) by following quality control measures. * Prioritize the safe and efficient transport of patients to and from the cardiovascular department by utilizing appropriate hand-offs for optimal care. * Troubleshoot minor equipment issues, initiate first-line service ticket requests and notify the supervisor for follow-up actions. Perform quality control testing and report problems with medical equipment to biomed/service engineer, with additional correspondence to department leadership. * Actively participate in codes and rapid response. Communicate shift hand-off regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams with oncoming staff. * Engage in equitable distribution of departmental workloads. Take responsibility for workplace actions, report errors promptly, and resolve them appropriately. * Actively participate in providing orientation and training for new hires and students, ensuring that procedures are performed according to set standards. * Function in the department as a part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborate in the care and service delivery process of patient care through effective communication with other service lines. * Prioritize and assist with scheduling exams to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times, and address stat requests. * On-call is required: 30 minutes arrival time after notification.     Your Role: General purpose is to review and reconcile charges of all Cath Lab procedures. In detail, a daily report in EPIC is used to pull all procedures from the prior day. From the EPIC report, the charge reviewer is responsible for completing an individual medical record review on all procedures and confirming all charges are accurate and in accordance with revenue policies. The daily objective is to complete the previous day's accounts. Emails are sent out to Cath Lab staff with discrepancies to reconcile any differences, ensuring optimal charge capture. Your Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent required and some college preferred. • Six months prior experience preferably in a Cath Lab with history of charge capture experience preferred. • Knowledge of Cath Lab charge capture rules and regulations preferred. • Prior work history with EPIC preferred. • Medical terminology knowledge required. • Must be well organized in their work.
