Job Summary and Qualifications
** THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION - 7:00 P.M. - 7:00 A.M. **
The RN Patient Placement Coordinator is responsible for patient flow within the Methodist Healthcare System (MRS). Assigns patients to an appropriate hospital bed, monitors the demand for beds as needs become known through reservations, walk-ins, transfers, or Emergency Department admissions. Provides administrative authority of accepting transfer patients to all MHS facilities. Functions in conjunction with the Nursing Administrators, Admitting Departments, Clerical Staff and Nursing Unit staff. Participates in capacity management conference calls and necessary triage and evaluation of patients to prioritize bed assignments. Monitors and projects bed availability based on known, predicted, or expected transfers/discharges. Receives and coordinates all communication from Physicians and their office staff f or admission requests.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Displays proficiency in using TeleTracking to assign patients to units, constantly monitoring demand with bed availability and needs. Will assure assignments are made by matching clinical needs of patients with bed assignments based on unit admission/discharge criteria.
2. Facilitates and provides leadership, direction and support for all patient flow operations within Methodist Healthcare System.
3. Responsible for accurately completing documentation on all transfer inquiries in the appropriate software. Responsible for initiating and communicating the Capacity Management Plan in conjunction with the Nursing Administrator.
What qualifications you will need
Associates Degree in Nursing required.
Three years of prior RN direct patient care experience required.
Recent clinical ICU or Telemetry or ER experience.
Mandatory: RNs hired that do not have a BSN upon hire must do ALL of the following:
Enroll in a BSN or higher degree nursing program within two years of hire date and submit documentation to facility CNO (or designated representative)
Complete the BSN or higher degree nursing program within five years of hire date.

The Digital Equity Coordinator is responsible for supporting Methodist Healthcare Ministries' evolving community-based initiatives-with an initial focus on digital equity and internal capacity-building efforts, and future expansion into other critical priorities impacting the health and well-being of our service region. Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree preferred. Five (5) years of strategic partnerships experience in a public health, health and human services, nonprofit, or philanthropic setting required. Three (3) years of experience with stakeholder and project management required. Two (2) years of experience supporting executive-level partnerships required. Conceptual, analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills preferred.
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate has experience in strategy consulting, relationship building, or a similar domain. Experience with strategic partnerships, writing and reviewing, developing policies and procedures, working with consultants, and developing assessments is highly preferred. Job Summary and Qualifications
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing all reusable surgical instruments for patient care. The Sterile Processing Technician also provides all needed instruments for surgery and outside departments.
Major Responsibilities
* Applies the principles of asepsis to ensure the prevention of infection and maintain optimum patient care.
* Demonstrates compliance with the Patient Safety Initiatives, National Patient Safety Goals (i.e. infection control, hand washing, etc.). Follows universal precautions as required by hospital and OSHA policies.
* Monitors surgery schedules daily, identifying general, specific and potential needs for all cases.
* Inspects, assembles, and tests general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning. Identifies tray type by contents of instrument tray. Identifies malfunctioning instruments and replaces or reports instruments that need repair or that are missing.
* Assembles instrument packs and trays for sterilization. Wraps, seals and accurately labels items that are to be sterilized.
* Controls the entire sterilization process. Receives, dsecontaminates, preps, packs, sterilizes, documents, and stores supplies, instruments, and equipment. Ensures compliance with national standards and recommended practices.
* Operates and maintains all sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, ultrasonic washer, and cart washer. Maintains accurate and complete documentation of all washing, sterilization, daily machine testing, proper testing after a repair of machine, temperature, humidity, air pressure, early release of implants, and eye wash station testing.
* Decontaminates, reprocesses and maintains flexible endoscopes as needed.
* Prepares, assembles and packages all instruments for surgery and other hospital departments.
* Prepares surgical sets, instruments, and trays according to prescribed procedures, ensuring that all instrumentation is correct and accurate.
* Pulls customized case cart sheets for all surgical procedures and prepares case carts.
* Inventories, maintains and supplies OR storage areas, specialty lockers, carts and equipment used.
* Responds to instrument needs during surgical cases.
* Audits trays for decontamination, washing, assembly, sterilization, implant usage, and instrument count sheets and tracks loaner equipment.
* Checks condition of packaging prior to sending to sterile storage, operating room, and/or Nursing Care unit.
* Creates and maintains accurate records regarding inventories, instrument set content, sterilized goods, biological test results, sterilization, and washing records for infection control practice.
* Maintains proper department temperature, humidity and air pressure parameters.
* Attends in-service presentations, including but not limited to infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, SDS and OSHA standards.
* Performs other duties as assigned. • Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" and "Mission and Value Statement."
Education and Experience
* Required: Highschool/GED
* Preferred: 1 year of experience

General Statement of Duties: The Surgical First Assistant lead works as a member of the perioperative team under the direction of the surgeon. He/she performs responsibilities of both the Surgical Technologist and the Surgical First Assistant based on department needs and as directed by the unit director or designee. The Surgical First Assistant lead practices within the scope of the job description and performs clinical and technical skills under surgeon supervision to assist with carrying out a safe operation with optimal patient results. This is done in collaboration with the circulating RN and other perioperative/OB team members. The Surgical First Assistant is educated and skilled in both the use of surgical instruments on tissues and the handling of instruments; however, the surgical first assistant does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse. Provides a leadership role to support and guide other first assistants and scrub technicians in promoting optimum patient care and team work within the surgical team; includes mentoring and assisting surgical technicians and surgical first assistants on a daily basis.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:
1. Education: Must have completed ALL of the following:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Graduate/completion of a CAAHEP accredited first assistant training program

Essential Job Functions:
1. Functions as a surgical first assistant at the direction of and under the appropriate supervision of the attending surgeon; always practices within the limitations of preparation and experience and within the scope allowed by the hospital.

A. Consistently functions at the direction of and under direct supervision (physical presence of the attending surgeon in the procedure/treatment room) of the attending surgeon. The surgical assistant scope includes:
* Providing visualization of the operative site through appropriate placement and securing of retractors with or without padding, packing or sponges; digital manipulation of tissue; suctioning, irrigation or sponging; manipulation of suture materials; proper use of body mechanics to prevent obstruction of the surgeon's view.
* Utilizing appropriate permanent and temporary techniques to assist with hemostasis. Permanent hemostasis techniques include clamping and/or cauterizing vessels and tissue, tying and/or ligating clamped vessels or tissue, applying hemostatic clips, or placing hemostatic agents. Temporary hemostasis techniques include applying tourniquets and demonstrating awareness of the indications/contraindications for use with knowledge of side effects of extended use; applying vessel loops, non-crushing clamps, or direct digital pressure.
* Administering post-operative subcutaneous local anesthetic injection
* Utilizing running or interrupted sutures with absorbable or non-absorbable material of wound layers, including muscle and fascia.
* Assisting with placement of implants
* Robotic procedures only: Insertion of subsequent (not initial) trocars. Must have documented training and competency validated (initially within by MHS Medical staff member privileged to perform robotic surgery. The documentation must include directly supervised trocar insertions on a minimum of 5 patients with good patient outcomes.
* Saphenous Vein Harvesting only: May harvest saphenous vein through endoscopic or open technique. Must have documented training and competency validated by a MHS Medical staff member privileged to perform Cardiothoracic surgery. The documentation must include directly supervised saphenous vein harvests on a minimum of 10 patients with good patient outcomes.
B. Under direct or general perioperative supervision (surgeon/proceduralist presence in the perioperative area (pre-op department, perioperative suite, PACU, OR/procedure waiting room) and is immediately available), the surgical assistant scope includes closure of body planes and applies wound dressings per the method indicated by the attending physician:
* Utilizing sub-cuticular closure technique with or without adhesive skin closure strips
* Skin closure with suture, staples and/or spray occlusive material/skin adhesive strips
* Securing drainage systems to tissue
* Application of immobilizing dressing
3. Consistently assists with maintaining the patient's expected physiologic responses to surgery including infection prevention (SCIP measures and practices, maintaining effective disinfection practices, instrument processing, and sterilization).Applies a working knowledge of patient preoperative deficits, risk for intraoperative injuries, and possible post-operative outcomes to assist in optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrates principles of safe patient positioning for best exposure in collaboration with the surgical team using appropriate positioning equipment to ensure padded pressure points, protection from nerve damage and unimpaired circulation.
4. Demonstrates effective communication and works collaboratively with all members of the perioperative team to include active consistent participation in Universal Protocol and timely and accurate sponge and sharp counts to include initiating corrective action as appropriate.
5. Acts as a mentor and preceptor for surgical first assistants and surgical technicians; conducts and/or coordinates inservices for staff as directed; participates in unit special projects as requested.
6. Functions in the role of a Surgical Technician as needed by the department; however, does not concurrently perform as the surgical first assistant and surgical technologist. Wears proper surgical attire, opens sterile packs, instruments, and supplies for each procedure, scrubs, gowns, gloves, and drapes according to established aseptic technique and protocols. Monitors sterile field during procedure and takes appropriate measures to insure integrity of sterile field and maintenance of sterile techniques. Initiates corrective action for any break in technique.
Additional Job Functions
1. May have access to non-controlled medication storage areas to include the anesthesia boxes or carts that are used in the surgical treatment of the patient.
2. Maintains appropriate knowledge and training to use any equipment necessary for care of the patient and ensures is it in working order prior to use.
3. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
4. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
5. * Documentation of completed 1 unit (400 hours) of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) as accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), the Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation, or the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education (CAPPE/ACPEP); one unit may be an equivalency. Job Summary and Qualifications
Supervises entire Physical Therapy department and ensures that the care to patients is provided in accordance with the standards of care of the organization and meets the requirements or regulations of JACHO, Medicare, Medicaid, and appropriate licensing or certified boards. The supervisor is responsible for the quality of therapy service provided to patients and other customers.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Supervises personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation, and training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, initiating personnel actions and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Job Summary and Qualifications
General Statement of Duties: The Echo/Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist works under the direction of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Manager or designee and demonstrates knowledge of non-invasive cardiac technology to perform physician-ordered diagnostic cardiac exams. He/she performs echocardiograms (2-D, M-mode, color doppler, pulsed wave doppler, and continuous wave doppler), TEEs (routine and CVOR), carotid imaging, tilt-table testing, and other related examinations according to established Hospital standards and practices. Applies technical knowledge of diagnostic non-invasive cardiac imaging equipment operation to include: Proficiency in basic troubleshooting, proper equipment cleaning, storage and maintenance of equipment. He/she accurately documents in accordance with Hospital policies and standards. Communicates timely and appropriate information with necessary members of the patient care team.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job Related Characteristics:
1. Education and Experience: Candidates must be registry eligible for RDCS/RDMS-FE from ARDMS or RCS from CCI and must meet ONE of the following registry eligible provisions:
A. Completion of an Associate's Degree/two year patient-care related allied health education program (diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, RN program) AND one (1) year full-time clinical ultrasound/vascular ultrasound experience. (ARDMS and RCS eligibility)
B. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited diagnostic medical sonography, diagnostic cardiac sonography or vascular technology program. (RCS and ARDMS eligibility)
C. Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) AND six (6) months of full-time clinical ultrasound/vascular experience. (RCS eligibility)
D. Bachelor's degree in sonography or vascular technology (or foreign equivalent). (ARDMS eligibility).
E. Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International. (ARDMS eligibility)
F. High school graduate/G.E.D. AND two (2) years full-time on-the-job experience in cardiac or vascular ultrasound. (RCS eligibility)
G. Graduate of a non-accredited program in Cardiac Medical Sonography that includes a minimum of one (1) year of specialty training (to include 800 clinical hours). (RCS eligibility)
2. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
A. REGISTERED: Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and requires: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in ONE of the following:
i. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) for the patient population served: Adult (RDCS-AE), Fetal (RDCS-FE), and/or Pediatric (RDCS-PE) OR
ii. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS-FE)
B. NON-REGISTERED: In accordance to the educational requirements found in section one, all new hires who become registry-eligible will be required to obtain one of the required registries listed in section A above within 12 months from the date of hire.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Acquires a signed physician order with indicator for all exams. Demonstrates good judgment in responding to STAT calls and appropriately prioritizes STAT orders. Ensures patient consent is signed for the ordered procedure. Effectively communicates and explains the procedure to the patient without discussing clinical findings of the exam. Validates the patient and/or family understanding of the procedure.
2. Ensures proper equipment operation during patient exams. Demonstrates proficiency in basic troubleshooting, equipment cleaning, storage and preventative maintenance.
3. Demonstrates technical proficiency for echocardiograms:
A. Adult and pediatric (if applicable) echocardiograms: Performs 2-D, M-mode, color Doppler, pulsed wave Doppler, and continuous wave Doppler. This includes all measurements as needed for a complete study to include parasternal long axis, parasternal short axis, apical 4-chamber, apical long axis, and apical 2-chamber, and subcostal 4-chamber view, subcostal short axis, subcostal RV outflow, abdominal aorta, suprasternal long axis of the aortic arch, and RV outflow to evaluate the MPA and branch PAs. Applies critical thinking skills to assess the patient condition to provide any additional views that will assist the cardiologist in the care/treatment of the patient.
B. Stress echo (exercise and chemical): Performs 2-D imaging at the highest level for the evaluation of wall motion abnormalities. Stress images will include P-LAX, P-SAX, apical 4-chamber, and apical 2chamber.
C. Demonstrates technical proficiency for TEEs. Set up of equipment and all supplies. Assists cardiologist with probe insertion as directed. After probe placement, tape all data as requested. Upon completion of procedure, candidate will immediately clean and disinfect probe according to departmental policy.
4. Assists with head up tilt table testing. Responsible for patient preparation to include validating the patient is NPO, patient transport, placement of electrodes, placement of blood pressure cuff and presence of a patent saline lock. If continuous monitoring is required, secures the use of EKG monitoring equipment. If labs are required, candidate will arrange for blood drawing. Candidate will remain with patient at all times and offer assistance under the direction of a RN.
5. Demonstrates technical proficiency at carotid imaging. Ability to obtain images of the common carotid, bulb, internal and external carotids with color doppler and pulsed wave doppler. Provides measurements as necessary for a complete evaluation of both right and left carotids.
6. Maintains all patient reports in accordance with Hospital policy. This includes but is not limited to the following: pulling all previous reports/images; presenting images to the correct reading physician; notifying reading physicians of requests; entering proper patient charges into Meditech; performing database and operating system backup; error log review; Hemodynamic Monitoring system data field modification; and proper storage of archived exam/study data.
7. Performs high level disinfection using established policies and procedures as required.

Job Summary and Qualifications
General Statement of Duties: Working under the supervision and guidance of a Respiratory Therapist, the extern will assess, treat and care for patients with pulmonary disease processes or respiratory care orders. Primarily responsible for noninvasive respiratory care modalities, maintaining patient records and operations of respiratory care equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Sets up and operates therapeutic gas administration, aerosol generators, and disposable medical products, following specific parameters for treatment.
2. Provides emergency care, including artificial ventilation, external cardiac message, and assists with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
3. Evaluates requirements for treatment, such as treatment type, mode and duration of therapy, universal precautions, medication and dosage, in accordance with physician orders.
4. Monitors physiological response to therapy, such as vital signs, pulse oximetry, auscultation, and consults with the preceptor and/or shift supervisor for changes in patient status.
5. Reads prescriptions, and reviews patient information to assess the patient's condition.
6. Works as part of a team of physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to manage patient care, enforce safety rules, and ensures adherence to the physician's orders.
