Job Summary and Qualifications As a Speech Therapist (SLP), youll help patients improve their communication, cognitive, and swallowing abilities through skilled, evidence-based care. Your role is key in helping patients make progress and independence while working closely with a supportive, collaborative rehabilitation team. Your role will include: * Evaluating communication, cognitive, and swallowing abilities using structured assessments, standardized tools, and clinical observation * Developing and adjusting individualized treatment plans that support communication clarity, safe swallowing, and functional progress * Documenting evaluations, daily notes, progress updates, and discharge summaries with accuracy and timeliness * Educating patients and families on therapy goals, safety recommendations, home strategies, and expected progress * Collaborating with physicians, nursing teams, rehabilitation staff, and care managers to support coordinated care and smooth transitions What qualifications you will need: * Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date * (SLP-CCC) Speech-Language Pathologist license * Masters Degree * Prefer experience with MBSS Methodist Hospital opened in 1963 as the first hospital in the now internationally acclaimed South Texas Medical Center. Services are clinic-based in both individual and group settings. This position is a member of the Preschool Inclusion Team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This position requires face to face interactions with staff, board, vendors, and the general public on a daily basis to accomplish all essential functions of the position. EVALUATIONS & PLAN OF CARE: Evaluates; scores standardized test to determine appropriate therapy plan. Evaluation must establish a client with a disability and/or developmental delay meets the medical necessity criteria for ongoing therapeutic services. Appropriately shares results with parent /caregiver. Develops an appropriate Plan of Care based on evaluation/assessment results, ensuring goals focus on improving, adapting, restoring, or maintaining functions impaired by illness, injury, loss, congenital abnormality, developmental delay, or chronic conditions. Treatment plans or Plans of Care (POC) must include interventions and short- and long-term goals and measurable outcomes. Upon initiation of therapy and throughout the Plan of Care, therapist must provide education and training of the client's caregivers by developing and instructing them in a home treatment program to promote effective carryover of the therapy program and management of safety issues. Documents all services within the required timelines and in compliance with documentation standards set by the agency, Medicaid and private insurance rules and regulations.
