Qualifications

Overview
This classification performs professional investigative work of considerable difficulty and performs related work as required. An employee in this class performs investigations at DCS field offices, homes, secure institutions and contracted agencies from an assigned area of the state. This class differs from the DCS Investigator 1* position in that the latter is an entry level/training class.
Responsibilities
Receives verbal and/or written complaints to determine if an inquiry/investigation will be authorized and if DCS policies and procedures have been violated. Identifies and gathers complete, accurate, and pertinent information to assess validity of allegations received and provides supervisor with status updates as requested or required by policy.
Conducts interviews with multiple individuals to obtain information relevant to the allegation. Documents accurate information from an interview in a timely manner per policy.
Identifies and collects evidence/data of relevance. Analyzes evidence to interpret sequence of events, to determine the focus of the investigation, or to develop investigative leads to determine if it supports the allegation.
Prepares reports for court. Appears in court/administrative hearings to testify to findings in cases/investigative summaries.
Uses policy, training, and experience/knowledge in the review of relevant information to determine plan of action or resolution.
Develops and maintains relationships with outside groups, law enforcement agencies, court officials and other governmental agencies. Communicates with coordinating agencies, victims, and court system regarding investigative activity and provides interpretation of reports/investigative leads to concerned/involved parties.
Determines if a policy violation or abuse/neglect has occurred. Identifies the perpetrator, the level of risk or harm, and determines the need for additional steps.
Coordinates work assignments and activities of law enforcement/investigative peers in joint investigations.

Responsibilities

Inspects devices such as electrical systems, basic plumbing, mechanical systems (i.e., HVAC, laundry, and food service equipment), removes and replaces defective parts to determine necessary repairs. Performs routine repairs on standard work equipment.
Rewires electrical outlets and breaker boxes; performs routine electrical tasks; repairs windows, doors, flooring, woodwork, drywall or other parts of building structures; performs basic carpentry tasks and minor HVAC repair. Performs daily walk through/inspection of facilities to ensure proper working conditions.
Communicates with outside vendors and customers to provide basic customer service and direct persons to appropriate solutions and answers.
Provides expert advice to members and agency SLB coordinators regarding the payment and application process. Provides input regarding sub-processes in determining and maintaining files for process improvements.

Overview
Under general supervision, is responsible for psychiatric technical work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required. This is the working level class in the Psychiatric Technician sub-series. Positions may work in direct care on patient units in a psychiatric hospital with responsibilities including providing daily living care, individualized teaching, group teaching, and supervised medical assistance. Responsibilities
Provides basic and/or emergency/psychiatric medical assistance under direct supervision of a licensed health care provider. Rescues injured patients and/or escorts patients to appropriate areas during the event of an emergency.
Teaches patients to function at the highest daily living level possible through demonstration, one-on-one instruction, videos, or booklets. Promotes social interaction by encouraging patient participation in group activities and/or discussions.
Identifies patients at risk based on current assessment by medical professionals and follows established protocols for specific risks to ensure safety of patients and staff. Monitors patients during administration of medications and meals to assist in compliance with prescribed regiment and monitors office and medical supplies to sure adequate quantities are on hand.
Identifies problematic situations between staff and patients and takes appropriate corrective action (e.g., intervenes when a staff member is having difficulties interacting with a patient.). Restrains patients to prevent injuries to themselves and others.
Reports to immediate supervisor observed progression or regression in patients that may indicate training/treatment need changes. Meets with other staff to discuss and document patient behavior or any other hospital situations that have occurred.
Cleans the work area, supplies, and equipment to ensure a sanitary living environment. Inspects patients' belongings, rooms, and other patient areas to check for contraband, safety and health issues, equipment functioning, or other problems or issues.
Explains HIPAA laws, patients' rights, and other information to patients, families, and/or conservators. Explains admission, vital sign, laboratory procedures, and routine ancillary services to patients.
Maintains current information and adheres to the Health Information Portability and Privacy Act (HIPAA) and other regularity standards relevant to job duties. Attends annual and periodic in-service training to keep up-to-date on the latest methods and technologies relevant to job duties.

Overview
This position is part of the Tennessee State Parks Park Ranger series for TDEC. This is the entry-level classification in the TSP Park Ranger Series. Under immediate supervision, this classification is responsible for law enforcement, emergency medical response, safety and security of the park and general public, resource-based interpretation, resource management, supervision of full and part-time employees, supporting park operations, and providing maintenance within a state park. This class differs from a TSP Park Ranger 2 in that an incumbent of the latter performs at the working level. Responsibilities
1. Working Title: Area Forester

Qualifications
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in forestry or similar natural resource curriculum that includes dendrology, forest measurements, silviculture, and forest management and experience equivalent to two years of professional forestry, wildlife, natural resources, or any other related work.
Substitution of Education for Experience: Graduate course work in forestry, wildlife, natural resources, or any other related work may substitute for the required experience, on a year for year basis, to a maximum of one year (e.g., 12 graduate semester hours in forestry, wildlife, natural resources, or any other related work may substitute for one year of the required experience).
Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants for this class must:
1. Possess and maintain a valid vehicle operators license in some positions;
2. Possess and maintain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification in some positions;
3. Pass a physical fitness test for participation in wildland and prescribed fire activities in some positions.
Examination Method: Education and Experience, 100%, for Preferred Service positions.
Overview
Under general supervision, is responsible for professional forestry and/or fire management work of considerable difficulty in planning, directing, and administering forestry programs; and performs related work as required.
An employee in this class either supervises professional staff at a state forest or performs advanced working level duties in a multi-county area which may include a state forest. This class differs from that of a Forester 2, in that an incumbent of the latter functions at the working level.
Responsibilities
1. Supervises subordinates by conducting performance evaluations, time management and schedules daily activities, such as fire prevention activities, facility maintenance, forestry programs, state forest activities, and vendor services.
2. Develops and interprets forest management plan information defining site index, basal area, soil information, and other variables to help make sound forest management decisions.
3. Interprets and communicates regulations to government agencies and citizens regarding state forest rules and burning law regulations to increase compliance and understanding.
4. May assist urban and community partners in developing urban forest management plans, provide technical assistance for urban forest health concerns, and facilitate urban forestry incentive programs.
5. May assist in wildland fire response, prescribed fire application, and all-hazard incidents.
6. Collects and analyzes forest inventory data such as tree/site data, landowner information, invasive/exotic species, and pathogen information.
7. Conducts timber sale administration activities and ensures all state polices are adhered to while disposing of state property.
8. Monitors logging activities and performs water quality checks on public and private land. Ensures compliance with best management practices and other agencies rules and regulations. Facilitates resolution regarding water quality complaints.
9. Uses GIS software to analyze and interpret spatial data to inform forest management decisions, develops mapping products, create forest management plans, and manage data for reporting.
10. Attends required training, obtains, and maintains required certifications such as safety, firefighting, and pesticide application.
